What happened to daily calendar view on new Outlook?

Oh my word. I have spent a good hour or two trying to figure this out. Thank you SO, SO much for this Dan. The new Outlook is great but not having the calendar panel was driving me nuts (not to mention the fat wasted space on the side which just upset my sense of symmetry). Can't believe it was so simple. I must have searched every crevice of my software but would never have figured this out.

Yes, I meant reading pane. Your pic shows how my old outlook looked, but with the new outlook, the calendar covers up part of the reading pane when open. I would like both to be visible

So has anyone actually found a way to have the calendar not cover up part of the email as in this image? I just want to see the calendar all the time like I used to and not have to close it to see my emails. It is shrinking the reading pane, but not scaling the image. There is a scroll bar to go up or down, but not to go left or right so there is no way to see the right side of the email without closing the pane every time.

I realized for some of us the calendar pane is overshadowing our reading pane as the UI is not compatible with our screen size. I was getting same issue when I used the outlook app on my laptop, when I shifted the screen to a monitor[bigger screen size], the calendar was no longer overshadowing my reading pane. It got adjusted.

I agree this is not a good fix to things. I would suggest in the meantime go by the suggestion of NRHTX to switch off the new outlook and back to web view as before.

Microsoft is aware, many users are having bad user experience from their new release and they are working on the same. A fix will be provided shortly.

I reported it via the new Outlook Pre and also recorded the process. I just hope they fix it soon.

I am using the new Outlook. From the desktop Outlook version I clicked on (Try the new Outlook), The version number is 1.2023.816.100

I can create favorites; I just want it to minimize to the far left as shown in the desktop version shown in the image that I posted.

I have a few questions: Is this version going to replace the desktop application in the near future?

In addition to what I posted. Number one is what I originally posted.

1. Unable to Click on the Expand Pane on the left side I looked everywhere, and I cannot find a way to pin my favorites, like on the desktop version. Online instructions say to go to View and then Folder Pane. This only shows Show or Hide in compact view. If you switch to simplified view, you can see the layout and footer panes. I only see show or Hide and no favorites.

The top image shown is the desktop application; notice that I have my favorites on the far left. Also in View, Folder Pane, I see Minimized and Favorites. This is missing from Outlook Pre.

2. I noticed that when I have a open email, I do not see the option to click on File and Save As. A lot of times, I need this to share emails via our Jira ticketing application.

3. On my calendar, I have it shared with several employees. The desktop application shows the names of the individuals who are sharing with me. In Outlook Pre, there are no names being displayed, and I only see colors.

In case anyone needs a fellow idiots-guide visual of Dan Swithinbank's super helpful advice to get the calandar on your email page ....
