What happened to daily calendar view on new Outlook?

Yes, I meant reading pane. Your pic shows how my old outlook looked, but with the new outlook, the calendar covers up part of the reading pane when open. I would like both to be visible

So has anyone actually found a way to have the calendar not cover up part of the email as in this image? I just want to see the calendar all the time like I used to and not have to close it to see my emails. It is shrinking the reading pane, but not scaling the image. There is a scroll bar to go up or down, but not to go left or right so there is no way to see the right side of the email without closing the pane every time.

I realized for some of us the calendar pane is overshadowing our reading pane as the UI is not compatible with our screen size. I was getting same issue when I used the outlook app on my laptop, when I shifted the screen to a monitor[bigger screen size], the calendar was no longer overshadowing my reading pane. It got adjusted.

I agree this is not a good fix to things. I would suggest in the meantime go by the suggestion of NRHTX to switch off the new outlook and back to web view as before.

Microsoft is aware, many users are having bad user experience from their new release and they are working on the same. A fix will be provided shortly.

Based on the description you posted, it seems that you have an issue with MS Office wherein you want to know how to re-add your daily calendar view on the New Outlook as it suddenly disappeared.

 For me to better understand the issue, I’d like to ask a few questions:

• What is the current build number of your Outlook program?

• What is the current MS Office license you are using? (M365 for home and personal or M365 for business)

• What other troubleshooting steps have your tried so far? Aside from the one's you have already mentioned?

In the meantime, we would like you to try the steps provided down below:

Keep upcoming appointments and meetings always in view

Outlook for Microsoft 365 Outlook 2021 Outlook 2019 Outlook 2016 Outlook 2013

When you point to the Calendar icon on the navigation bar, the Calendar peek shows your upcoming appointments and meetings. To always be able to see your upcoming items, dock the Calendar peek to the Outlook window.

• Click  (highlighted in red in the picture below) or right-click the calendar icon on the navigation bar, then select Dock the Peek. 

To close the peek, at the top of the docked Calendar peek, click .

When a peek is docked or not docked it only affects that view. For example, if you’re in Mail and pin the Calendar peek, when you switch to Tasks, the Calendar peek doesn’t appear. You can dock or undock the Calendar peek in each view by clicking  or .

Hovering over the calendar icon does not show the calendar or give the option to dock in new outlook
