How to stop outlook from opening a browser every time I create a meeting?

Every time I click on New Meeting it opens my browser and its very frustrating. How do you shut this functionality off?

    i uninstalled Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime and it works.

    no more popup.

    Windows 10 Pro.

    I used Control Panel->Programs and Features to uninstall Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime as did @Doc Holladay. Immediately afterward, opening Outlook calendar meetings ceased generating the dreaded "roompanel" zombie pop-up.

    I did not reboot my PC, nor did I logout. Nevertheless, the next day, Opening an Outlook calendar meeting againt popped up the "roompanel" browser window, and Control Panel->Programs and Features again showed Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime installed.

    Even though apparently Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime again exists on my PC, I can find no EdgeWebView folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft, nor did an exhaustive search reveal an EdgeWebView folder, anywhere, on my PC, so I can see no way to uninstall EdgeWebView via the command line.

    Any other suggestions that might rid users of this pest?

    I agree, the WebView 2 workaround is just that, a workaround, and not a solution that is going to stick. Who knows when the next MS update will just slap the thing back in there... Could try creating a GPO to block further installation of it but any change to the path or filename on MS' part will render that useless as well.

    Our users have been making due closing the pop-up browser window, but we are now experiencing the issue when a user tries to click a Join meeting link from an invite... This is getting worse.

    Have you tried the Legacy roompanel registry key? That worked for my users with the issue when webview2 didnt. Again it isnt a solution but so far that one has stuck for the longest for me

    For clarification that was:

    In Registry Editor, navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Options\Calendar

    Right click on Calendar and select New DWord (32-bit) value.

    Set the Name to ShowLegacyRoomFinder and press Enter.

    Right click the new key, select Modify and set the Value data to 1.

    Close Registry Editor and restart Outlook.

    Curious, as it does work for version 108.0.1462.76, which appeared on my computer today after an update, and prompted the same behaviour again of spammily trying to open up an OWA page.

    Did you run CMD as admin? Did you put your own version number in place of mine?

    This is what I ran this morning:

    And the regedit that fixes the calendar version of this issue does not by itself fix this particular problem of trying to open activity feeds in OWA, I'd tried that too :(
