Cannot enter recipient email addresses in Outlook on Mac. Any help?

Since today, when I try to compose an email it will let me type in both the subject and body fields (as normal) but not in the 'To' field to enter the recipient's email address.

I click on the 'To' bit and nothing happens. I hover the cursor over it and try to type - nothing happens. I'm blocked out from entering any email addresses.

It means I cannot send any new emails from my account via my desktop. Seems to be just fine from my phone.

It's bizarre and frustrating and I can't find anything about it online.

Desktop is an older iMac using Safari. Never had a problem before.

So, this is about Outlook, not Hotmail. Does Hotmail even still exist?!

That’s a blast from the past.

I imagine it’s all laid out differently in Hotmail?

Are you experiencing the same problem?

HERE'S SOMETHING THAT WORKED FOR ME!!!!!

    Click on the To box.

It then takes you to a screen that says Add Recipients.

Below that is a box that says My Contacts.

Fill in the name of person who you want to address to.

It says Searching Contacts, and then name you entered pops up.

Hit the + sign and that name fills into the To: section.

To add another name in this field, repeat process.

To send CC or BCC, click on those boxes and do same thing.

Hope this helps. It seems to be working for me... at least for now.

I had trouble finding it too.Depending on your toolbar "upper right hand corner " could be anything. Its on the same line as the "Send" option to the left. There is a little search icon (Magnifying glass) and Trash icon right next to it. It has a little arrow in the box pointing to the upper right. try that

The people who said open the little square in the upper right hand corner "Open in New Window" worked. Before I sent this note, I had to send some critical emails via my Gmail account.. Good news is I know I am not missing any receiving emails in Microsoft
