Using older versions of Outlook for Mac in business environments
Shoot - mine was working for 30 minutes and then reverted again. I'm still able to use the 'Open in new window" work around. I'll let you know if I find another fix.

Since today, when I try to compose an email it will let me type in both the subject and body fields (as normal) but not in the 'To' field to enter the recipient's email address.
I click on the 'To' bit and nothing happens. I hover the cursor over it and try to type - nothing happens. I'm blocked out from entering any email addresses.
It means I cannot send any new emails from my account via my desktop. Seems to be just fine from my phone.
It's bizarre and frustrating and I can't find anything about it online.
Desktop is an older iMac using Safari. Never had a problem before.

I tried that, no luck :(
PROBLEM: CANT TYPE IN RECIPIENTS
I have an Apple. I am on Safari. I do not want to switch to Chrome.
I noticed an issue for the past month:
Now for the past few days, I can't
I tired shutting down and restarting, that worked a couple times, but then stopped..
I tried Clearing Cache & Cookies, and it still doesn't work.
I tried Opening New windows, doesn't work now.
I tried clicking on the "To" & "CC" box, which brings you to your contacts. However that's not recognizing new email addresses & even if you type in a new email, press Save - It is not Saving it.
I found a temporary (but frustrating & time consuming) work around:
To send an email: I can draft it on my Mac, but to add recipients and send with recipients, I have to send it from my I-phone. This gets very frustrating when you need to add an attachment, so you have to forward, first, etc.
This is terrible, Microsoft / Apple - PLEASE fix this issue.
UPDATE - I found another work around. ******* (Everyone responding is saying this is working for them too)!!!!
Click on your email you want to respond to.
Reply; Reply All or Forward
Now you will see: Up above by the "To", look to the right of the subject line, past the From; & icons: Magnifier; trash; you will see an Icon of a: "Arrow in a little box on top of another box".
When you click on that box, it makes a duplicate enlarged version, in there I can type recipients!
FINALLY a better work around - try it, I hope it works for you too
I did this after applying all of the other suggestions and was able to send an email this way. Now that I did that with one email my Outlook is performing normally without any special tricks. Not sure what that unlocked but it is working now.
I just tried the suggestion to "Open in another window" using the icon at the top right. After sending just one email this way - Outlook is performing normally again. I also did all of the clearing of my cache, history etc that was suggested first.
Hope this helps,
