same problem here. started appearing today. super mega bad. after a couple of tries I got this email

    You need an app password
We noticed that you tried to sign in with the password for your Microsoft account on one of these apps or devices. Since you've turned on two-step verification for ***@outlook.com, you need to use an app password instead for any of the following to work with two-step verification. We've sent this reminder to all the security info you've provided. If you haven't already done this, we'll help you set up these apps and devices with app passwords:
    <ul><li><p data-prewrap="true">Outlook desktop app for your PC or Mac</p></li><li><p data-prewrap="true">Email apps on an iOS, Android or BlackBerry device</p></li><li><p data-prewrap="true">Office 2010, Office for Mac 2011, or earlier</p></li><li><p data-prewrap="true">Windows Essentials (Photo Gallery, Movie Maker, Mail)</p></li><li><p data-prewrap="true">Zune desktop app</p></li><li><p data-prewrap="true">Xbox 360</p></li><li><p data-prewrap="true">Windows Phone 8 or earlier</p></li></ul>

Obviously something broken on MS side as this wasn't necessary before.

Same error has been occurring here on my Surface Pro for the past couple days now, and ironically, it's happening with just my personal Outlook account in Outlook 365 Desktop out of the total of 12 personal/work/community email accounts I have setup in it.

Clearly microsoft has broken something on their end...

Hi, I'm experiencing exactly the same. I use Office 365 and access all email accounts via Outlook. Others are working fine but Outlook.com address is throwing up the same error. I can access it via the web with no issues and on my iPhone with no problem. It's just not working on my PC. Infuriating! I have reset my password and it seems to have triggered from that today 26/04/23. Any solution will be gratefully received. I removed my outlook.com account and have tried to add it and no success.
