I recently downloaded the new Mac Ventura OS. Now my Outlook won't search email folders for the two weeks since I downloaded the OS. I deleted all the Office 365 files then downloaded a new batch. Problem persists. Unfortunately, I can't find advice specific to the Ventura OS.

I am so happy this solution has helped so many of us. I guess we were all lucky to find the right Microsoft tech support person with a solution that actually worked!
There is another issue we can fix when have applied this Method.
As i do not really know if the indexing status of the /System/Volumes/Preboot is important it is indexed when having Ventura installed originally.
To fix that Issue:
Open Finder and go to Applications - Utilities - Terminal and type the following commands (Press Enter after typing each command).sudo mdutil -X /System/Volumes/PrebootNote: When prompted for a password, please type the Mac user password. This would be invisible. Please type the same and hit enter.Once done, restart the mac computer.
Control with:
sudo mdutil -sa
Output should be:
➜ ~ sudo mdutil -sa Password: /: Indexing enabled. /System/Volumes/Data: Indexing enabled. /System/Volumes/Preboot: Indexing enabled.
A more precise approach to fix the Outlook Search should be:
sudo mdutil -i off /System/Volumes/Data sudo mdutil -i on /System/Volumes/Data
Once done, restart the mac computer.
Checking Indexing Status open Spotlight ( cmd + space ) type indexing:
Thank you Suddetuned! So happy to have search back after months of missing it!
Same issue. I contacted support directly from Outlook and got this answer. The solution worked for me!! (I have a Macbook Pro M2 Chip)
Outlook Support:
I will be glad to assist you. With regards to the search issue, let's run a couple of commands on Terminal to manually initiate indexing and check if that helps:
Open Finder and go to Applications - Utilities - Terminal and type the following commands (Press Enter after typing each command).sudo mdutil -a -i offsudo mdutil -a -i onNote: When prompted for a password, please type the Mac user password. This would be invisible. Please type the same and hit enter.Once done, restart the mac computer and wait for about an hour and check for the behavior. Please try and let us know the Outcome. Thank you.
Even now, March 15th, this is the formula that helped me and many others dealing with this issue.
I wish I had found it earlier. I ran into Search Not working maybe 2-3 times in my career and each of those time was a pain to figure out that I dont even know what worked and what didnt.
Glad Suddetuned got the right Tech and shared it with us.!!
