The font size is way too small. I can temporarily increase the font size for each email I read or write. I can't find any setting or instructions online to permanently increase the font size.

I would also like to change my font size permanently. Not just my emails but when they come into my in box to. I currently cant move the slider as it doesnt let me and its set at 90%, even 100 % would be a bit better. It needs to be sorted .
There IS a permanent way to increase the size in your reading pane.
In the lower left corner of Outlook, manually increase the size using the slider. Once you're at your desired zoom, click on the number (e.g., 120% or whatever you've selected) at the far bottom right. A dialogue window will appear. Click "Remember my preference" and then click OK.

I see that many people want this, and this conversation was 2 years ago. I am sure the coding could be done by an intern for something so simple to roll out in the next update. Curious why it hasn't been done yet?

I am sorry to hear that Microsoft has chosen to write off all customers over the age of 45. Being able to permanently set the font size to something that users can read without difficulty seems like a pretty basic user experience feature. I have low vision and find the 8 point default that Microsoft seems to think is adequate for everyone does not work. I have a 24-inch monitor and I still need to use a magnifying glass to read my mail. I tried Ctrl-+, which works for most software, but NOT Outlook, and I had to search Google (not Bing) to find out that font sizes are buried in View -> Current View -> View Settings -> Other Settings to get to any font settings, and it still does not include the reading pane. Another Google search tells me to go to View -> View Settings and use the + and - to adjust the font size, but I can't find the right place where this works. I can only hope that Microsoft's User Experience team soon reaches the age where they have to deal with these problems and see what a mess they created and how difficult the Outlook UI is to work with.
