Contact list grayed out in Outlook for Mac

Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, I know your requirement. In fact, new outlook for mac does not have contact lists now. So the icon is greyed out. You can get more detailed information from New outlook for mac.

Microsoft is updating their products based on customers' need, believe this feature will be available soon. Please be patient to wait for some time. If you want to use this feature now, you can change back to the old outlook as the document said at any time. Your understanding and patience are highly appreciated.

Not sure which "old" version you are talking about. The "new" version since 2019 has the contact list greyed out. It also no longer has the "rules" available under the tools menu either. I think most of us on this thread know what we are talking about. Only when you flip back to the legacy version can you have contact lists and rules.

BTW - my Office 2019 did the "final" upgrade and without my permission upgraded to Office 365 for Excel and Power point. I had to work with a MS online tech person to go back to the last version of 2019. She also helped me disable "auto upgrades" so it will not longer do this. However 2019 is now no longer supported so you are on your own. It appears that Office stand alone 2021 no longer includes outlook, only 365 now includes it? Office 2021 is home and student versions only. I am probably going to move to emClient as it looks to have all the Outlook functions as the legacy Outlook and will import you Outlook files.

Well it gets even better. If you have auto updates on Office 2019 you get upgraded to Office 365 since Office 2019 is no longer supported. I found out the hard way when all of a sudden Excel no longer looked the same and I could no longer save anything. I got a message I needed to pay for Office 365. Thankfully the MS tech I got hold of was able to put me back to the last update of Office 2019. HOWEVER, now I can no longer drag and drop files into or out of of Outlook!!!! So, at least I still have the legacy group email capability but no drag and drop. May just go to Apple mail. Tired of the slip shod mess that Office for Mac has become. Why or why can't they just leave it as it was and put in the new look????
