Contact list grayed out in Outlook for Mac

(This article says that you "just have to" enable "Hide on my computer folders" but I do not have that options in Preferences > General) How do I enable Contact List this? Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, I know your requirement. In fact, new outlook for mac does not have contact lists now. So the icon is greyed out. You can get more detailed information from New outlook for mac.

Microsoft is updating their products based on customers' need, believe this feature will be available soon. Please be patient to wait for some time. If you want to use this feature now, you can change back to the old outlook as the document said at any time. Your understanding and patience are highly appreciated.

Contact lists are still unavailable and using the older version to work around this issue is no longer available. When will this functionality be added back into the product? It has been 2 years since the coming soon message for this feature.

Outlook 2019 is OK, but you will need to keep switching it back to the traditional Outlook, not the NEW one as it will ever so often decide to make the switch when you restart the application. It will also default to the new one if you load 2019 from scratch. At this point, this is the end of the road for me and Outlook.
