Hi Peter Nelson (peter.nelson),

Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, I know your requirement. In fact, new outlook for mac does not have contact lists now. So the icon is greyed out. You can get more detailed information from New outlook for mac.

Microsoft is updating their products based on customers' need, believe this feature will be available soon. Please be patient to wait for some time. If you want to use this feature now, you can change back to the old outlook as the document said at any time. Your understanding and patience are highly appreciated.

Thanks for your precious time. Have a nice day.

Best Regards,

Katherine

**** like this is why Apple will always be better than Microsoft. I just want to create a contact list and I have to spend hours in user forums trying to find "the trick" for one of the simplest procedures to a mail platform there is. And then I see in March 2022 its a feature YOU HAVEN'T EVEN ADDED YET??????

This is pretty ridiculous that MS has decided to remove a feature in the newer version. Not to mention that the current version has been out for a year. MS, it's pretty clear that you do things like this only because it's cheap (don't want to pay developers to fix it) and you know you can get away with it.

I'm sure I am not the only one who would not use this software unless I had to for work.

Yesterday, my Outlook 2019 automatically updated to version 16.71. I had been using the legacy version as the "new and hobbled" version did not have key items, namely contact lists, and rules. I no longer have the option to return to the old and reliable version! I am now stuck with this POC. I have been an Outlook for Mac and the prior incarnation Entourage for years and years. Why on earth would they create this mess, and actually rub salt in the wound by having these options in the menus, but either grayed out or a little message saying they "do not work with this account". Lists are key for me. I guess I will for now use the template suggestion, although that is a sad commentary on this client. These so-called "missing" features have been known since Office 2019 came out and not a thing has been done to fix them. It is clear that MS wants everyone to move to Office 365 so they can collect their rent. I will be evaluating other clients now, sad that this is where we are in 2023. I should have just stayed with Office 2016.

Want another kicker - type in the help function - contact lists. It will give you how to create a contact list in Outlook for WINDOWS! as a HELP! Hello MS anyone home?

Further update. I actually did find a way to revert back to classic and everything is back to normal. Why the update automatically switched over to the new version is unknown?

I'm hoping for a status update on the availability of creating contact lists. If it's not available, then the grayed out option is just a cruel reminder that it should be.
