Contact list grayed out in Outlook for Mac

Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, I know your requirement. In fact, new outlook for mac does not have contact lists now. So the icon is greyed out. You can get more detailed information from New outlook for mac.

Microsoft is updating their products based on customers' need, believe this feature will be available soon. Please be patient to wait for some time. If you want to use this feature now, you can change back to the old outlook as the document said at any time. Your understanding and patience are highly appreciated.

Please fix this important feature! It's ridiculous that we don't have this feature available and haven't. This feature is a basic that goes back to the 90's era!

You are correct. Those instruction posted are for the old Outlook for Mac before the 365 'upgrade' and aren't applicable--even though it says it's for 365...

I think you may be right though. This feature does feel like it's being ignored on purpose.

It doesn't look like Microsoft has any intention of ever fixing the contact list feature.

It's interesting how this thread started two years ago. A feature most businesses use that has been discontinued for over two years.

This didnt work for me I'm afraid.

Wouldn't it be nice if Microsoft could just tell us why this simple bit of functionality is so difficult for them to put right. They just seem to be unprepared to give us all a sensible answer or solution.

Maybe time to got to the competition authorities with it. It must be aimed at getting us to use Windows and not iOS They at least do sometimes get these giants to move!!
