Contact list grayed out in Outlook for Mac

Based on your description, I know your requirement. In fact, new outlook for mac does not have contact lists now. So the icon is greyed out. You can get more detailed information from New outlook for mac.

Microsoft is updating their products based on customers' need, believe this feature will be available soon. Please be patient to wait for some time. If you want to use this feature now, you can change back to the old outlook as the document said at any time. Your understanding and patience are highly appreciated.

Katherine, the problem is still not fixed, well over a year since your original response. One should not have to revert to a previous version in order to restore functionality. Instead, Microsoft should not roll out forced updates without ensuring first that functionality is retained. I am sure that the community would appreciate it if you could use your influence as an advocate to elevate this longstanding problem with the Microsoft Office development team.

It has now been well over a year since the problem was identified in this comment thread and it appears still not to be fixed. It is unfortunate that Microsoft seems to have gone backwards with "outlook for mac" by taking away functionality.
