Contact list grayed out in Outlook for Mac

Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, I know your requirement. In fact, new outlook for mac does not have contact lists now. So the icon is greyed out. You can get more detailed information from New outlook for mac.

Microsoft is updating their products based on customers' need, believe this feature will be available soon. Please be patient to wait for some time. If you want to use this feature now, you can change back to the old outlook as the document said at any time. Your understanding and patience are highly appreciated.

When is contact list feature coming available?

Personally I find it incredulous that it wasn't a feature of the original build - but then Microsoft know better than their customers!

I found a work-around solution.

Open Outlook On-line (https://outlook.live.com). Add or modify groups there. Send group emails from that address.

Use New Outlook on computer (not on-line) for non-group emails.

The answer that it was coming "later this year" was posted in March 2022... it's now Sept. 2023 and the Contact List option is still greyed out in the current Outlook for Mac.

All,

I have found a temporary solution that works for me. Firstly, I created an email and added a group of people to it. Then, I saved it as a template by clicking on "File" and selecting "Save As Template". I saved it to my desktop for easy access. Now, whenever I need to send an email to that same group of people, I simply open the template and all the individuals are already included. Although this doesn't solve the underlying issue, it saves me time from having to add each person individually to every email. I only ended up creating three templates because I found it too tedious and frustrating to create more due to issues with MS.

I hope this helps a few of you. Now...we continue to wait for the real fix.
