"Message failed to send" Red Error box in Outlook 365 for Mac

Hi everyone - has anyone had issues with sending emails using Outlook 365 for Macs? Especially a red error box that appears at the bottom (attached) and says "Message failed to send Open" The email is then stuck in drafts with the option to continue editing but it is simply frozen in drafts and the only way is to delete and try again. Alternatively, you can go to the webmail version of outlook, find the drafts folder and send from there. This has been happening on/off for several weeks now, no pattern, just happens occasionally.

This version of Outlook 365 is absolutely **** with so many issues

Yep, same issue here, had it for over a year now. Says a lot that nothing has been done to fix this! It's a critical error — if you can't send an email, what's the point in using Outlook at all?! Shame on you Microsoft

The only solution I've found is to send it from the web version of Outlook. It should save in drafts so when you go to the web version you don't have to start over. I just keep a tab open on my browser now. It's not a great solution, but it works.

Has anyone found a real solution to this as of yet? In this case, reverting to "Old Outlook" is not an option.

I have the same issue, new Mac, new installations of Outlook for Mac. It is now October 2024. I see that the first complaints about this DEFECT were lodged over a year ago.

WHY DOES MICROSOFT NOT FIX THIS?

The little red warning box does not remain visible for long. On a large screen it is easy to overlook it.

The effect is this: one can write an email, send it off, assume (how unreasonable!) that it was sent and then wait for a response, as I just did, for two weeks, on a time-sensitive project. Then, while I was looking for something else entirely, I find it in the drafts folder.

    FIX IT.
