My Outlook (O365) and many others is constantly freezing. We are in online mode due to accessing shared mailboxes.

This issue started occurring after Microsoft released a big update on 10 November 2022. The message appears below everytime Outlook freezes. We can't be in cached mode as it causes issue with shared mailboxes. How do I fix this issue? thanks Lia

    In our environment this issue is appearing on multiple versions of Outlook. From the Semi-Annual channel to the Current channel.

    It is happening on Old Outlook's that haven't been patched yet and the latest Releases from the above channels.

    Also on machines outside of our Remote Desktop environment.

    I was hoping it was just a KB number that I had to uninstall. At this point I am not sure what update I need to uninstall.

    I haven't uninstalled anything as yet.

    Going to throw my voice into the void;

    We are a large MSP and have an ever growing list of clients suffering this issue, I have even experienced it a couple of times myself.

    • Cached or online mode doesn't seem to make a difference
    • Impacting from current build Outlook back to 2013 and a variety in between.
    • Tried rolling back to the previous current channel update without any change in behaviour.
    • Experiencing on networks with barely utilized 1gb connections
    • Worst hit seem to be RDS environments, again does not matter if cached or online
    • Checked outlook connection endpoints and are resolving in country so not an issue with long hops/latency

    There is clearly a MS side issue that they are either unable to identify or are unwilling to admit.

    This is what Microsoft tech support came back to me with :-

    Hi Lia,

    The issue is solely related to Outlook showing the warning message "Trying to retrieve...", issue is not happening to Outlook on the Web.

    When you go to the browser Outlook.office.com, you are not getting the same error message. Therefore, this is not related to Exchange Online server issues or mailbox issues. 

    Issue is only happening to Outlook. The link I provided to you below is about the Office update that directly affects the Outlook.

    I provided it to you as requested as in the call you told me that you will try to uninstall the update to one of the PC.

    Hi Josh. 100% the same here, especially on the RDS front. They're almost unusable in Outlook.
