New Outlook mode - Light/Dark background setting

Where can I find the below setting when I'm in the "New Outlook" mode:

If you prefer, you can disable dark mode so that the message window is always white when using the black theme. The icons to switch dark mode on or off are disabled when you disable dark mode.

  • In Outlook, go to File > Options.
  • On the General page, look for Personalize your copy of Microsoft Office.
  • Set the Office Theme to Black and select the check box next to Never change the message background color.
  • Select OK.

Thx

You didn't answer his actual question. We want both want the new Outlook to use the Dark Theme, but we ALSO want the message area to NOT use Dark Theme. In the old Outlook, there was an option for "Never change the background color." This did exactly what we want. The new Outlook doesn't seem to have this option.

This is the issue, it's annoying to have to do this one by one for each message. We should be able to to toggle this for all messages.

When I switched over to the New Outlook, this was the first thing that I noticed. I wanted the Dark Theme but I want the message area to be light. So why would Microsoft remove the option to keep the email message white. From what I can see, this is a popular feature that people want.

    G'Day All,

Firstly, I want to acknowledge that my initial question did not receive a solution at this time. However, I found the comment section to be more helpful and focused. It seems there was a misunderstanding of the original question.

Secondly, I want to share my personal experience. I recently switched to the 'New Outlook' and after some Googling, I ended up on this thread. Now, I find myself Googling how to revert back to the old Outlook. I miss certain features like the indenting of replies and the ability to change the color of my responses. I find indenting helpful for better email conversation tracking, and using different colors for my replies helps me differentiate them easily.

Additionally, it would be great if Microsoft could align the Windows 11 Fluent design with Recertify11 by default. This would provide a more cohesive experience.

These are just my personal thoughts and suggestions. I hope you all have a pleasant day/evening ahead.

I agree, having to select 'View with light background' for each email is a pain, there should be an option so that all mails are displayed with a light background while in dark mode.
