Hi there,
my Outlook for Mac does not download or open any attachments.
The issue persists with various file types such as jpeg, xls, pdf.
The workaround with downloading the files and opening them from the finder does not work, as I am unable to save the attachments. I do see the attachments by name and icon (e.g. Apple Preview PDF icon)
macOS and Outlook are up-to-date:
macOS Version: 12.5
Outlook Version:16.64
The issue appeared on my newly installed Macbook Air M2 with macOS Monterey. On the old Macbook Pro before I did not encounter this issue.
As is, I just cannot work with an Email client not opening attachments. Thanks in advance for any solution.
Best regards,
ste_si
*** Update: Seems to be caused by the "new Outlook". Going back to the legacy Version solves the issue, everything works fine. Anyone else experiencing this issue? ***

I'm having somewhat of the same issue as everyone else, but a slightly different.
I have tried everything but deleting and starting over as we aren't sure yet if it's all backed up on our server.
I can't open any kind of attachment that is more than 2 weeks old, even if I had opened it previously. When I switch to Legacy, there is nothing there but an empty inbox. Same thing if I log in online. Forwarding any of them just come through with no attachment (to myself or an external email address). I can't download, preview or anything. But if it's within the last 2 weeks, I'm fine...
Computer is MacBook Air M2, 2022; Ventura 13.4; Outlook 16.75.2
The only thing that worked for me was to "force" the Macbook to revert to an older version of Outlook. It's been a few months since the problem popped up, so your results may vary.
While running Outlook, go to the main menu bar across the top of your Mac. Click on "Outlook" in that menu bar. Then (assuming it's selected) de-select "New Outlook." You will likely have to restart Outlook. Might be best to restart you Macbook.
In the end, you are telling Outlook to run the old version, which -for me- allowed the download of attachments.
Good luck.
Hi, did you find a solution, as I am having the same problem. New Mac laptop and no attachments download.
I’m having to carry around 2 laptops just to be able to open emails, which is ridiculous
This suggestion worked for me. But not sure how long this solution will keep working as day-by-day interesting problems are arising with Mac Outlook Application and MS Applications
