I like to open unread emails in a new window vs the email window. It sometimes works by double clicking but not very often. Is there a trick I'm missing?

Same issue. Not sure how this one was missed. Almost 30 years of Outlook usage, and it has always had this feature. Huge oversight by the dev team here that makes the new Outlook completely useless to me. Who opens just one email at a time? I've switched back for now.

What's frustrating here is that this is a clear bug, yet we're asked to submit "feedback" that it will "hopefully... be included in a future update". No... this is a bug. It needs to be reported as a bug by a Microsoft employee. We, as the users, should not have to beg via feedback portal for a bug to be fixed.

I am in the same boat. I just installed the new Outlook. I have two monitors. The one in front of me is my work surface. The monitor in the right runs Outlook all the time. When I double click a message it should open on my work surface (pop out message to a new window). This is not happening. Outlook is unusable to me if this function is not available.

Restating: Double clicking on a message DOES NOT open the message in a new window in the New Outlook. In fact, double clicking has the disastrous effect of launching whatever link is under the cursor after message opens due to the first click. NOT GOOD!

Expected solution. Add the option to open email in a new window on the first click.

The double left click on the email isn't opening in new window for me.

I usually have the main outlook window as only the preview pane and then I open each email in a new window. This keeps the amount of Outlook's screen real estate low until I open a message and respond. Defaulting the double-click action to open a new window with that message is critical to the workflow. This reference article shows how I'd configure Outlook in the previous version, I just need to know how to do it in the new version. Thanks!
