How to Open Emails in Separate Window in New Outlook

I like to open unread emails in a new window vs the email window. It sometimes works by double clicking but not very often. Is there a trick I'm missing?

We need the double left click to open email in new window.

It's not working and this is one of the most important feature to the workflow.

Also, you need to create an option to "always open messages in a new window".

    ASAP!

Agreed! My default workflow is to open email in individual windows which allows me to reference/cut-paste/action many items in parallel.

The reading pane is not a workaround as it marks items as read, regardless of if it has been viewed, and it is also a clunky workflow that I always have disabled in outlook.

If 'open in new window' is not a selectable or default action when opening/reading email, then I won't ever be using New Outlook .

(BTW - I do realise we actually work in serial regardless of how many windows are open)

Wow, that's a real bummer. They should be ashamed of themselves for not testing the new version before forcing it on people. Incredibly irresponsible of any IT team to push a new version on people without sufficient testing.

    Hi KGIR,

Thanks for posting this work-around. I will not be using it. I do not use the reading pane. Never have, never will. I like having a list of incoming mail with the preview below it. That is what works for me. I am hoping MS will get the message that this is the way a lot of us work. For everyone that speaks up there are probably a hundred that just go back to the old version and say nothing. I am sure MS can look at the metrics and put real numbers to this supposition. I won't hold my breath waiting for them to post the numbers.

I think I will begin looking for an alternative to Outlook, just in case they don't fix this. Any suggestions?
