"New" Outlook: Add Shared Mailbox to Favorites

It's very important for me and my customers to have some shared folders in favorites . Is possible from any older outlook version like the save as in attachments

Umm yeah this is a real pain. We looked at maybe using Groups because Groups can be added to favourites but for managing mailboxes like accounts@, or our health monitoring accounts, this just doesn't really cut it when you need to archive information.

What's worse, is that this feature is not even under development right now. When I've checked the feedback portal the best answer so far has Microsoft considering this, which means that this isn't even a feature they are fixing yet.

So for anyone that thinks this feature is going to return soon, it's looking VERY unlikely.

Microsoft when do you plan forcing everyone on to the new Outlook? Isn't it this month? Where is the feature parity that we would expect from an update?

There are all sorts of other bugs where images aren't showing inline etc., but seriously, not being able to add a shared mailbox's inbox is actually causing us productivity loss as a result.

This is not just impacting us. We have over 70 other businesses across at least 2,000 seats that we know of who are not happy by this change.

Oh, wow. If it is truly not something they are actively working to resolve, it really is absolutely baffling.

Microsoft are [painfully] slowly, literally years, to resolve huge productivity deal-breakers that they cause. This is not being able to ungroup taskbar items all over again.

I have said this so many times, but the Windows developers cannot possibly be using Windows as their development machines. There is absolutely no way they can otherwise there is no way on earth they would have let that go on for so long. Being a developer, having to hover over a VS Code icon to then find the right instance of the many projects I am working on at any one time, cost so much time over the past years.

The inability to pin Shared Mailboxes folders causes a similarly painful experience, again, a huge productivity breaker. Similarly to my comments above, the developers programming this new Outlook cannot possibly be using is as an email client and utilising Shared Folders. Ether that, or they barely have any folders or accounts.

I have three different M365 licences, so, Shared Mailboxes are a huge scroll down to the bottom of hundreds of rows, even if I collapsed every folder, so if I want to check these mailboxes it is an absolute nightmare.

If they are not going to add this feature, they should at least allow the same functionality that was possible in the current / old Outlook, where you can actually add a Shared Mailbox" to Outlook as if it was a licenced account. You cannot do his in the new Outlook.

Worst-case scenario, we should, at the very least, be able to add them as IMAP accounts. This should be possible by using:

• Incoming mail server: outlook.office365.com
• Outgoing mail server: smtp.office365.com
• Username: Your email address and the shared mailbox address separated by a backslash (), for example, ******@contoso.com\******@contoso.com
• Password: Your email password

However, when trying to do this with the new Outlook, you cannot specify the IMAP username, which is what we would need to change, it will simply attempt to authenticate using the shared mailboxes address that was entered in the previous step 🤦🏽‍♂️

Other people cannot add IMAP accounts for this same reason: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/new-outlook-app-how-to-add-an-imap-account-with/ef47acb7-b37a-4813-88c5-96899262813b. In any email client you have ever used, you have ALWAYS been able to define an IMAP username, separate from the email address. It really is baffling that they "forgot" to add this field.

for our company also very important feature. Please add ability to make Inbox of shared mailbox as Favorite.

I ask our employees to migrate to new Outlook and this is most missed feature for them.

This is something used mostly by companies. It is completely crazy to use shared mailboxes with this design!!!

The CEO of the company I manage turned on the new outlook by mistake, having 8 shared boxes and 4 full accounts it was a huge mess, it was immediately requested to the IT toi set things back to the old version and suggested to look for a alternative program...

I don't get how Microsoft plan things but this look as a HUGE step back and lately most of the developments seem to forget many users are inside a company where the things need to be stable and working all we see is useless stuff even on Windows Pro so I wonder what is this "vision" for the future...

But wait they created a Copilot new key, hope it can run over the "bad decisions team"
