"New" Outlook: Add Shared Mailbox to Favorites

Hi,

I manage 3 mailboxes at work and made the mistake of switching to the new Outlook a bit early [my toggle to switch back is gone?] and it's totally messed up my workflow. I was able to find my shared mailboxes after several back and forth with my IT department. Now I need to add the inboxes of those shared mailboxes to my "Favorites" list so I don't have to scroll down constantly to work those accounts.

When I right click on the shared inbox there is no option to "Show in favorites" and I get the circle crossed out when I try to drag them into favorites. Also, in the Favorites folder when I click "Add to Favorites" it brings up something wonky, and mailbox folders don't appear to be an option.

Can anyone tell me how show these shared account folders in my favorites?

    Thanks! I have gone and upvoted over there.

    As for doing this regularly, we drag emails from one inbox to another all day long. Our users could email the intake mailbox for our ticket system directly, and occasionally they do, but usually they email our help desk team's shared mailbox. The advantage of having us triage the emails is that sometimes they simply aren't something that requires a ticket, often because they aren't IT issues.

    We have a plan this year to educate and push people toward the web portal for our help desk, partly because then the system could offer them solution documents, preventing them from needing our support.

    I personally use new outlook for my own mailbox, (even though it shows up in Old Outlook) but that's because I LOVE the Sweep feature. Sometimes I use it in OWA still but more often than not, I use it in New Outlook.

    Ah, OK. I did notice that groups can be pinned, but there was a key feature of Shared Mailboxes that is missing in groups. I cannot currently remember what that feature is, though, lol.

    Yeah, I assumed you meant this. This is indeed another annoyance. I, fortunately, do not need to do this that often. When I do, I fire up the old Outlook to do so.

    I feel for you if you need to do this frequently 😿. I would look for a feedback portal post about this, and upvote it. I hope that they add this, too, but it's probably unlikely due to this one being solely online versus utilising local PSTs and OSTs. Fingers crossed that they do, though 🤞🏽

    I am going to go through and upvote all relating to this. There are several about the inability to drag to your desktop (or file Explorer in general) too, which is another missing feature / annoyance.

    "Accounts that could potentially be completely unaffiliated with each other." I see what you're leaning into with that loaded statement and it's not relevant to the technical aspects of what New Outlook can do vs what Old Outlook can do.

    Old Outlook allows us to drag emails from our team's intake account and drop them into the inbox that our ticketing system monitors.

    I think you might be correct, looks like it has added the group, which is why it can't be removed.
