Hi,
I manage 3 mailboxes at work and made the mistake of switching to the new Outlook a bit early [my toggle to switch back is gone?] and it's totally messed up my workflow. I was able to find my shared mailboxes after several back and forth with my IT department. Now I need to add the inboxes of those shared mailboxes to my "Favorites" list so I don't have to scroll down constantly to work those accounts.
When I right click on the shared inbox there is no option to "Show in favorites" and I get the circle crossed out when I try to drag them into favorites. Also, in the Favorites folder when I click "Add to Favorites" it brings up something wonky, and mailbox folders don't appear to be an option.
Can anyone tell me how show these shared account folders in my favorites?

Wow!!! Almost 18 months since this thread started and this basic functionality has still not been addressed. As previous users have said this single item alone restricts me moving to the new version as it is making my workflow harder than it needs to be.

Yes you are 100% right...clearly they didn't test it thoroughly before rolling it out. As a bare minimum the classic features should be implemented and then start working on the new features. I contacted support about this issue and they said it is currently being worked on, but as usual no timeframe. I said this is a classic defect in the IT world and that it should have been fixed last year when it was first identified. They agreed but they have no impact on the development team.
It really feels to me like Microsoft just push out a half-baked v0.5 product these days with only 50% functionality of the established product that it's replacing.
They wrap it in marketing hype of "new" Outlook, "new" Teams, etc, and encourage their business users to "try it out", essentially as free beta testers.
What they don't tell you is exactly how much functionality you'll lose as a result. This results in so much lost efficiency for us as we fumble our way through it trying to work out how to do our jobs in an essentially separate product, only to realize that we can't do our jobs in it and then waste more time switching back
I'd just like to to see a feature matrix of old vs. new BEFORE it switches so that I can make an informed decision and not waste all that time.
Agreed it is sad but Microsoft has proven to us that they take a long time to make any positive changes. In my opinion it is not a feature request but should have been part of the design, as it worked in the class Outlook, so therefore should be fixed as a defect which should have been resolved already.
This is Oct 12 2024, and this issue is yet to be resolved. It shows disregard and a lackadaisical attitude to feedback. As if having to scroll to the bottom of the screen is not bad enough, you have to select the shared email and select inbox again.
Just make it possible for us to add it as a fav and it'll be more functional.
