New Outlook won't open .pst files

One suggestion I might be doing ..

Within the exising oulook which I'm currently using and able to open .pst files .. I will open all the .pst files i have .. one by one .. then will move the content from them into my existing inbox "which is currently on the cloud" then will move these old emails into sub-folders "also within the cloud" then will upgrade to the new outlook with "ALL" my previous emails and current emails will be aceesible since they are already on the cloud ..

It is still a plan .. which I need to make sure it will work .. hopefully

I find it fascinating that Microsoft has a Compliance module that allows content search of emails and produces a PST file as a result. So, what am I supposed to do with the PST file that MICROSOFT gives me? Pretty sure they didn't think this through. At all.

I have just wasted days finding where in in Purview (prev Compliance) part of M365 admin management consoles how to download the results of my GDPR Subject Access Request search to a .PST output by Purview MS latest tool for compliance management to find I can't open the PST or to be more precise I can open it, the open and export function lets me open it but tells me there is nothing in my 2.5GB pst

What utter idiots are working at MS?

Pissed off with how myuch of my time this has wasted.

For info the only alternative I have in Purvies is to export each email to a seperate .eml file instead which will be 10's of thousands of emails.

I was thinking of doing that too. I've got about 4GB in my ,pst. However, I believe there are a lot of duplicates there as a result of a number of clumsy attempts at consolidation. Yes, I know there are apps to clean up .pst files but it should be provided as an MS tool. I don't trust those 3rd party apps. They might cause more trouble than they are worth. I also notice that the current cloud archive also has numerous duplicates but there is no way to fix that except manually. So, if the ,pst is put into the cloud, there will be even more duplicates. MS would be wise to have a provision to capture duplicates, otherwise their cloud storage will fill very quickly.

And now Microsoft will have full access to all your old emails and data to train Chat GPT on...
