Can't copy/paste calendar events into a different month. Have to duplicate, open the event, change the date. Again extra effort.

But hey … who needs the flexibility of changing the schedule of an event 🤭

I think you are correct. Historically they come out with something and it is optional for a while, then it finally becomes the only option. I am wondering if there is a non-Microsoft alternative that is full featured?

The older "Mail and Calendar" app will not be functional at some point this year. They are pushing everyone onto this new Outlook/Web app. One thing I hate is that everything is called Outlook and it's hard to explain which Outlook one is talking about. So the prior recommendation/solution of just using the old app is not valid as it will be gone soon.

I also highly doubt they will incorporate any scrolling into the new Outlook, and if they do it will be the type of scrolling which jumps from one month to the next month, essnetially like pressing the <> arrows button which goes to the prior or next month. That will be their 'solution' for scrolling. This is essentially how Google Calendar on web currently behaves, jumping HORIZONTALLY one entire month to the next.

Someone mentioned 'don't they use the software to know what is missing?' ... the answer is no, they have a group of maybe 2-3 people who do mostly nothing all day other than 'attend' online meetings and just talk about new announcements in company, equality stuff, etc etc... the actual app development is a distant 4th 5th priority.

Someone else asked if there is any alternative... answer is Thunderbird Mail and its Calendar, but its pretty. janky. It has a lot of features, but the interface is super janky as is the scrolling.

Someone said they will just try and use their Mac mail and calendar, and this is the correct answer. Try the MacOS calendar is it scrolls smoothly and vertically and stops when you stop scrolling. You can copy and paste events as much as you want. The search function doesn't default to one year in the future so you don't have to keep adjusting search filters. It's just an amazing app. Their mail app also runs circles around any Outlook version on any platform. Butter smooth with all the rules and options any normal person would want.

I would not invest any more time in finding 'solutions' for the Windows platform and its lack of fit, finish, and polish when it comes to included software. It's pretty much a legacy company living off cloud income and business office/windows subscriptions. They don't care because they know 90% of the planet's companies are not going ot go and buy iMacs and Macbooks for their employees.

Hmm. That makes sense. The executable is in the old location on my hard drive. I was unable to find the registry key mentioned in the link I published above.

I sure hope they don't make us use the new version. It is NOT improved.

I use the switch between old and new but it my understanding Microsoft is going to not allow use of the old after a certain date, maybe I am wrong.
