When sending emails from QuickBooks with Outlook, edits are discarded and the mail is sent as created by Quickbooks.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create invoice in QuickBooks, click "Email" button.
  2. A draft email is created in Outlook from your default invoice template with the invoice attached.
  3. Edit that email - add or remove text, and send.
  4. Look in Sent Items. The sent email DOES NOT HAVE YOUR EDITS.

This is subtle, and super annoying - how often do you think to check if your e-mail got sent the way you wrote it? I only noticed because I went back to copy some text that I had written for a new e-mail and saw that it was missing from the email as sent.

    Hello...Has anyone found a fix for this issue? Quickbooks Enterprise V21 started doing this recently and we sent several emails out with very important edits that never made it to the recipient resulting in huge issues for us. This happens in outlook 2016 and 2019. If we switch it from HTML to Rich text in the email compose box the changes are kept. However, we need to do this for every email we send via quickbooks. The trick someone mentioned about switching from HTML to RTF and back again does not force it to stick.

    Are there any fixes for this issue? We can upgrade to V23 of QB Enterprise but do not think that will resolve it since it seems like an outlook issue.

    per PM - I think this is an Outlook issue. If you look at the thread https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/cannot-edit-quickbooks-generated-outlook-emails/cc37fa11-b801-4df4-ac5a-0dfef52be63f?page=3 , a previous Microsoft person said this was related to an Outlook feature.
