When sending emails from QuickBooks with Outlook, edits are discarded and the mail is sent as created by Quickbooks.

The Outlook bug in this year-old thread is back.

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/cannot-edit-quickbooks-generated-outlook-emails/cc37fa11-b801-4df4-ac5a-0dfef52be63f

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create invoice in QuickBooks, click "Email" button.
  2. A draft email is created in Outlook from your default invoice template with the invoice attached.
  3. Edit that email - add or remove text, and send.
  4. Look in Sent Items. The sent email DOES NOT HAVE YOUR EDITS.

This is subtle, and super annoying - how often do you think to check if your e-mail got sent the way you wrote it? I only noticed because I went back to copy some text that I had written for a new e-mail and saw that it was missing from the email as sent.

    John,

You can also try manually adding it:

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\ExperimentEcs\Overrides] "ofqmojruwvzbn60"="false"

    1. Open Regedit and navigate to the path above
    2. Right click on Overrides and click new String value
    3. Name the string ofqmojruwvzbn60
    4. Double click on the name and for Value data: put false

    It will look like below.

NOTE: When this issue gets addressed you will need to remove the regkey or it could cause failures long term. Please keep track of this thread so we can make sure the key gets removed. Or, alternately put a reminder on your calendar with this post or the reg key to early next year and remind yourself to remove the key.

    Perfect that worked! Thanks!

Thank you Andrew. I understand it now. I will test editing the text in the table in the invoice email.

The email as constructed by QuickBooks is delivered to Outlook just fine. If you then send that email, it will go as created by QuickBooks. However, if you make any edits to that email before clicking send, those edits are removed from the sent email and the message is reverted to the way it was when it was created by QuickBooks. It’s not uncommon for people to customize the greeting or add a note to the template-generated email from QuickBooks, and that’s what’s being lost.

per PM - I think this is an Outlook issue. If you look at the thread https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/cannot-edit-quickbooks-generated-outlook-emails/cc37fa11-b801-4df4-ac5a-0dfef52be63f?page=3 , a previous Microsoft person said this was related to an Outlook feature.

Note that just flipping the mail from HTML to RTF and back is enough to get the edits to stick, so I do think this is in Outlook. ![](https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/b0eb41d2-a8a9-4aaf-8998-f9ce41bfa462?platform=QnA
