I hate the NEW Outlook

I am not confident they are using much of any sort of UX planning at all.

Highly used functions are buried in context menus or get hidden if the window size changes. It reminds me of someone just learning old HTML coding and trying to layout the interface simply by using screen percentages.

The worst part of this is I am starting to see this unacceptable new direction bleed over in to the OS as well. Covering up the minimize all button on your desktop because you want show case your copilot ****...

Lately with the younger generation of programmers this is becoming the Microsoft way... Take advanced functionality and symmetry and trade it for less functionality, less control, and non-standard "look what I can do!" procedural changes. It all started with the Ribbon menu system honestly.

Case in point... the way outlook handles spelling correction with left click not only slows you down in Outlook. But once you do get a handle on it it will then slow you down in other apps when to forget that spell correction everywhere else is with a right click and not a left click.

By the way that is the stupidest thing ever... if you want to correct a grammar or spelling error in outlook yourself, you have to literally click ignore all to be allowed to make your own changes? Not to mention the Grammar police in outlook just deleting words from you email if they don't know how to suggest a fix. Almost like it's using AI to check grammar... And we all know how AI created content reads.

And lastly they make changes all the time under the wire, almost like they don't want anyone to know what they are doing and how many errors and changes they are actually making. (no "Outlook needs to update... here are the changes it will make.") Just open Outlook up and try to find what they have changed today.

Scary really.

I have forced myself to use the new Outlook because our org. requires it to use CoPilot. I dislike using it so much that I literally Googled "who hates the new Outlook" and ended up here. I hate it for so many reasons: monochrome, not intuitive, difficult to decipher what is selected quickly, need to push too many buttons to do simple things, getting rid of useful tools, no scrolling on the calendar. I can go on and on; I internally cringe when using it, I never thought I'd have such a reaction to software but when its use makes up most of your work day, it's natural to be resentful of bad UX.

It just keeps getting better and better. And when I say better... I really mean I can't publicly state how I really feel about the intellectually challenged at Microsoft. Those who actually feel no shame about calling themselves programmers and software engineers. <Insert L to the forehead sign here.>

So today my find was the fact that the function they have for adding hyperlinks in to an email does literally nothing!

...Oh wait it does two things. It changes the font to blue and underlines the text. Evidently the Geniuses at Microsoft believe that blue text that is underlined is what make a hyperlink a hyperlink. I mean why would a hyperlink actually have to Jump anywhere or actually do something when you click it?

I tested hyperlinks to file folders, web addresses, and actual files just to see if Microsoft only half screwed this up. Nope. none of them work. Also tried the Open link context menu and that does not work either.

But don't worry... we will sit back and wait for you so called professionals to correct this behind the scenes. Push out the fix deep in the shadows. ...that way you can pretend the issue never even existed. Just like you have been doing with all of the other fails you have had with this project.

They hear the complaints but have done, virtually, nothing to correct them.

Why do MS have such poor listening skills? Don't they care about their paying customers?

The Outlook search filter is nothing short of deplorable! I searched for a sender in my inbox and once it had fulfilled it's function attempted to clear the filter using the 'Clear Filters' button- it simply doesn't work!!!! WHY HAVE A CLEAR FILTERS BUTTON IF IT DOESN'T WORK??? What the heck are MS programmers smoking?

AND........ Why? Why? Why for pities sake MS, repair something if it isn't broken?

Please MS, consider your paying customers. If there was a competitor of MS I could go to I'd be GONE already!
