I have been trying to run the "NEW" outlook for a few months now. It is SOOO frustrating to use as commands and functions have just been deleted. Adding files to an email has become a chore and now requires extra steps! I DON'T want to send a link; I want to send the file itself... it is so confusing.
Viewing an attachment becomes a whole new experience as it doesn't open the app related to the file type but leads you down more complicated corridors. Saving attachments is also time consuming as it saves it (unless you are careful) in some sort of folder on One Drive.
I run three accounts (corporate, outlook.com and gmail.com) on mail plus I monitor a few shared folders as well. What used to be simple is now a real chore! Want to change how often in checks for mail... forget it. want to change the functions when it goes to get the mail. Completely disappeared.
Switching back to the "old version" froze the application as it could not update the Outlook account. It is a real tragedy that we seem to have to accept this as the "only" version soon. I am already looking around for alternatives. I have now reverted back to "OLD" and fixed the problem with mail. I have send a note to the organization to NEVER try and load this cut down version... it is a terrible replacement.
Come on Microsoft, you can do better than this.... or is it impossible!!

I totally agree. The "NEW" OUTLOOK is terrible/confusing/time consuming. How can I revert back permanantly to the old OUTLOOK? Maybe it is time to switch to G-mail...and Apple devices! The old saying seems to apply to the NEW OUTLOOK: If there is a way to make something difficult, Miscrosoft will find it!
Why do MS have such poor listening skills? Don't they care about their paying customers?
The Outlook search filter is nothing short of deplorable! I searched for a sender in my inbox and once it had fulfilled it's function attempted to clear the filter using the 'Clear Filters' button- it simply doesn't work!!!! WHY HAVE A CLEAR FILTERS BUTTON IF IT DOESN'T WORK??? What the heck are MS programmers smoking?
AND........ Why? Why? Why for pities sake MS, repair something if it isn't broken?
Please MS, consider your paying customers. If there was a competitor of MS I could go to I'd be GONE already!
They hear the complaints but have done, virtually, nothing to correct them.
It just keeps getting better and better. And when I say better... I really mean I can't publicly state how I really feel about the intellectually challenged at Microsoft. Those who actually feel no shame about calling themselves programmers and software engineers. <Insert L to the forehead sign here.>
So today my find was the fact that the function they have for adding hyperlinks in to an email does literally nothing!
...Oh wait it does two things. It changes the font to blue and underlines the text. Evidently the Geniuses at Microsoft believe that blue text that is underlined is what make a hyperlink a hyperlink. I mean why would a hyperlink actually have to Jump anywhere or actually do something when you click it?
I tested hyperlinks to file folders, web addresses, and actual files just to see if Microsoft only half screwed this up. Nope. none of them work. Also tried the Open link context menu and that does not work either.
But don't worry... we will sit back and wait for you so called professionals to correct this behind the scenes. Push out the fix deep in the shadows. ...that way you can pretend the issue never even existed. Just like you have been doing with all of the other fails you have had with this project.

I have forced myself to use the new Outlook because our org. requires it to use CoPilot. I dislike using it so much that I literally Googled "who hates the new Outlook" and ended up here. I hate it for so many reasons: monochrome, not intuitive, difficult to decipher what is selected quickly, need to push too many buttons to do simple things, getting rid of useful tools, no scrolling on the calendar. I can go on and on; I internally cringe when using it, I never thought I'd have such a reaction to software but when its use makes up most of your work day, it's natural to be resentful of bad UX.
