I have been trying to run the "NEW" outlook for a few months now. It is SOOO frustrating to use as commands and functions have just been deleted. Adding files to an email has become a chore and now requires extra steps! I DON'T want to send a link; I want to send the file itself... it is so confusing.
Viewing an attachment becomes a whole new experience as it doesn't open the app related to the file type but leads you down more complicated corridors. Saving attachments is also time consuming as it saves it (unless you are careful) in some sort of folder on One Drive.
I run three accounts (corporate, outlook.com and gmail.com) on mail plus I monitor a few shared folders as well. What used to be simple is now a real chore! Want to change how often in checks for mail... forget it. want to change the functions when it goes to get the mail. Completely disappeared.
Switching back to the "old version" froze the application as it could not update the Outlook account. It is a real tragedy that we seem to have to accept this as the "only" version soon. I am already looking around for alternatives. I have now reverted back to "OLD" and fixed the problem with mail. I have send a note to the organization to NEVER try and load this cut down version... it is a terrible replacement.
Come on Microsoft, you can do better than this.... or is it impossible!!

I've been using the new Outlook for literally less than an hour. It's obvious now that they have basically eliminated the Outlook desktop client and are simply regurgitating Outlook Web App in a desktop wrapper.
Horrible, tone-deaf UX planning.
The new Outlook interface is absolutely horrible. I have clients who ask me to build email templates for them in Outlook, which I did quite well previously. Now in the new interface, it's extremely difficult event SELECTING an image in a table, let alone resizing it. You have to search the web for workarounds in order to figure out how to get the resizing handles to appear (click to the right of the image, hold down shift, tap left arrow), and even when you select the image, the ability to enter a specific image size is nonexistent.
Worse yet, the backwards compatibility with the last version of Outlook seems to have been ignored. When I attempt to open a template I created in the last version of Outlook, some images do not load, and I need to rebuild them. I expect to have unhappy clients in the days ahead.
This is absolutely awful and extremely frustrating. Hey, Bill Gates, maybe stop whining so much about bovine flatulence and trying to get people to eat bugs, and get your team refocused on making good apps that businesspeople can actually use!

I wonder if MS will ever listen to it's humble business customers. I fear not as there's little meaningful competition to pressurise them. MS have messed up Outlook and they have ruined Teams, formerly the much more intuitive and easy to use Skype. I'm trying to get my company to use Zoom instead of Teams as I found it sooooo much better!
It is comforting to find like-minded fellow sufferers of new MS Outlook; I had hitherto thought I was losing my marbles! Wonder if MS are reading any of this?! I doubt it.
I hate it so much! I keep trying to use the new version only to get so frustrated that the tools and organization that work for me are not options on this version. I keep refusing to use the updated version and I think that is causing a delay of up to 4 minutes anytime I receive a calendar reminder. I can only guess that the old version is not supported and is causing these long lags where I must sit and wait for the spinning wheel to let me start typing again? I am required to use this program for work and it makes my life so much harder.
Just chiming in to add my hate to the fire. So very frustrating!!!!!!
