How to remove [External] from Outlook emails, users are getting furious

Since early December all of our Outlook365 users (in all tenants) have been getting the tag [External] in the subject line of their Outlook, and want it removed. I am only finding PS scripts which do not work. I have searched the settings and security areas of the admin console but have not found anything. Please help!

    I don't have an exact solution to this unwanted prefix "EXTERNAL" in the From: field,

    but I didn't know this was even happening until my colleague started railing about it... because my view does not show it.

    FYI I have been using "Compact View" which apparently suppresses the display of this [External] feature,

    path= Outlook365/ View/ ChangeView/ Compact .

    When I select "Outlook365/ View/ ChangeView/ Single" then the "EXTERNAL" appears in From: .

    MAYBE this will help others - I do not have any more notes on changing Outlook Views, but I expect there could be refinements. I agree this new feature is obtrusive, but it has not affected my work yet, and I do not normally see this feature.

    May MS have mercy on our eyeballs

    100% agree. I am now finding market appraisal requests/leads that have come from head office being marked as EXTERNAL and going straight into my junk folder. Not even the 'Clutter' inbox but Junk. These requests are worth 10's of thousands of dollars. STOP changing things with no option to opt out. Just another example of not being able to actually think for ourselves these days.

    What about the average user? Someone who just wants their email inbox as clean and uncluttered as possible? I shouldn't have to be an admin to change basic (inane) settings that affect how the email service that I use all day every day looks. I do not need a little box that says "External" next to the sender of half the emails in my inbox to know whether an email is from an external address as determined by Microsoft.

    Hi there,

    I find the 'feature' extremely annoying also.

    What does it mean 'Run at the tenant level the command:' - how do I do this please?
