Hello,

We encounter an issue with M365 apps (Outlook, Work, Excel) on a specific environment ( Remote Desktop Service)

Sometime, when an user open his application (Outlook for instance) on a RDS, an authentification pop and ask for credentials. If the user enter his credentials, he encounter a 1001 error.

https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/5a947921-955a-4688-ad93-acc305bf77c6?platform=QnA

We already try some step to resolve the issue that help in some case but not all the case, and not defintely for a same user ( Issue occur again) :

  • Clear folder C:\Users*yourusername*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneAuth and C:\Users*yourusername*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\IdentityCache
  • Move the user from 1 TSE server to an other TSE)e
  • Clear FSlogix User profil ( The specific one link to FSLogix Office 365 Container technology )

The main issue is that the error can occur again few day laterfor the same user.

We also generate some log from M365 apps client during the signin process with this link to help : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshoot/diagnostic-logs/how-to-enable-office-365-proplus-uls-logging

In the log I find the reference to the 1001 error but the log is a bit complex to understand or analyse.

They are refering to this version:

    :--- :--- :--- :--- :--- :--- :---
    2023 October 10 Version 2309 (Build 16827.20166) Version 2308 (Build 16731.20316)
Version 2307 (Build 16626.20222) Version 2308 (Build 16731.20316) Version 2302 (Build 16130.20810)
Version 2208 (Build 15601.20796)

Just noticed that our customer is already on this build version.

Josef is your update channel: Current Channel or something else?

We haven't had a case since 10 or 11 October.
Reviewing the log of Office Alerts I see we first had version: 16.0.16827.20130 and now we are on 16827.20166

I've been following this thread for a while since we also had a customer who experienced this issue.
We had a case open with Microsoft and just got confirmed this should be fixed in the latest release of Office 365 apps (October 10).

We still have to install this update but still I'd like to share this news here.

When you exclude this 2 folders as mentioned in point 4, the password wouldn't be saved of course.

It's the opposite from RoamIdentity=1, as mentioned in point 1.

I've the same problems and try it from now on with all this fixes except the fslogix excludes from point 4.

I'll post my results with this settings in a few days.
