Hello,

We encounter an issue with M365 apps (Outlook, Work, Excel) on a specific environment ( Remote Desktop Service)

Sometime, when an user open his application (Outlook for instance) on a RDS, an authentification pop and ask for credentials. If the user enter his credentials, he encounter a 1001 error.

We already try some step to resolve the issue that help in some case but not all the case, and not defintely for a same user ( Issue occur again) :

  • Clear folder C:\Users*yourusername*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneAuth and  C:\Users*yourusername*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\IdentityCache
  • Move the user from 1 TSE server to an other TSE)e
  • Clear FSlogix User profil ( The specific one link to FSLogix Office 365 Container technology )

The main issue is that the error can occur again few day laterfor the same user.

We also generate some log from M365 apps client during the signin process with this link to help : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshoot/diagnostic-logs/how-to-enable-office-365-proplus-uls-logging

In the log I find the reference to the 1001 error but the log is a bit complex to understand or analyse.

    Hello,

Same problem here on my Citrix (VDA) environnement with Windows 2019 or 2022.

My profiles are managed by UPM.

I have recreated machine with Windows 2016 server because authentication process is different, for the moment, my users are no more impacted with the issue.

This is a temporary solution... I want to use Windows 2019 server but reset 100 profiles by day was no more feasible.

    Regards,

Hi Florian, is this still working for you?
In our situation it does not work or folder is not always there. Deleting folders IdentityCache en OneAuth as mentioned in other forums also not resulting in a solution. Last time I deleted FSLogix profile for myself and after creating a new profile it worked fine for 10 days, today the problem is back. Deleting profiles seems to be the only solution. But only if user do not logon directly after deleting, best is to wait 24 hrs or something. User seem to be able to work for a few days after doing this, but still not always. Sometimes they are able to work and durig the day the problem occurs. Outlook asks for password and then the problem is back. Other Office programs like Word and Excel keeps working but lost connection withe Onedrive and SP.

We're encountering a similar problem in Citrix with FSLogix. We're able to delete the UserProfiles, and for a brief period, everything seems fine. However, after a short while, the same issue reoccurs. Even after reconnecting, the problem persists.

We attempted to apply the solution provided by the user "Jay WH" on site 3 in this thread, and it seemed to work for about 90% of user accounts. Unfortunately, today we're experiencing the problem once again with some users.

Hoping for a fast problem solution from Microsoft

Our users get the same 1001 error massage when they are login on the RDS environment, We are using Windows Server 2019 with Office 2019 2308 on the dedicated Session Hosts, it was just a couple users at first when we where stil on 2307 an where abel to fix the problem by logging off and in again but it seems to be 10 times worse sinds the system did updates. If someone has a solution to fix the issue please let me know.

We have 8 Session Host servers with Windows Server 2019 1809 And using Office 2019 version 2308.
