Hello,

We encounter an issue with M365 apps (Outlook, Work, Excel) on a specific environment ( Remote Desktop Service)

Sometime, when an user open his application (Outlook for instance) on a RDS, an authentification pop and ask for credentials. If the user enter his credentials, he encounter a 1001 error.

https://learn-attachment.microsoft.com/api/attachments/5a947921-955a-4688-ad93-acc305bf77c6?platform=QnA

We already try some step to resolve the issue that help in some case but not all the case, and not defintely for a same user ( Issue occur again) :

  • Clear folder C:\Users*yourusername*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneAuth and  C:\Users*yourusername*\AppData\Local\Microsoft\IdentityCache
  • Move the user from 1 TSE server to an other TSE)e
  • Clear FSlogix User profil ( The specific one link to FSLogix Office 365 Container technology )

The main issue is that the error can occur again few day laterfor the same user.

We also generate some log from M365 apps client during the signin process with this link to help : https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/troubleshoot/diagnostic-logs/how-to-enable-office-365-proplus-uls-logging

In the log I find the reference to the 1001 error but the log is a bit complex to understand or analyse.

Dear ARGUAIROLLES Florian, Did you ever get a resolution to this issue?

We have the exact same issue in our Windows Server 2019, O365 environment, but we use Citrix Profile Containers instead of FSLogix. We use virtual apps only. We noticed however, we can login to the desktop using the same profile container and it works fine, just not Virtual Apps. We've been rebuilding the profiles to resolve the issue, but the problem returns afer a few days on some of the users.

Did you ever get more details on how to "disabled the (default setting now) for the roamingidentity parameter", at which level ?

    Thanks,

    Jay H.

    Hello Shane,

    Thx for your answer.

We will try on the next case to remove "AADbrokerPlugin folder in appdata\local\packages" and see if it works .

Can you detail the "disabled the (default setting now) for the roamingidentity parameter", at which level ?

    Thanks !

    Hello Tin,

It is not related to a specific user.

Issue occur on different users, different TSE server.

Today, we had few cases that we resolved by reset the FSLogix Office Container of the user but it is still unclear why it occured. If it can help, this container contains these folders :

May be related to an authentification / identity token that expired and does not succeed to renew ?

I will try the M365 admin online support, see if it can help.

    Dear ARGUAIROLLES Florian,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

Based on your description, we understand that this behavior occurs in a specific user, and that you have tried to fix this phenomenon and still encounter this issue.

Due to the special nature of your environment, it is difficult for us to simulate your environment for testing, in order to troubleshoot whether it is related to the environment and to save your time, we kindly recommended you can raise a service request in Microsoft 365 admin center, which the support there has the related permission and resource to help you. They can also remotely assist you in analyzing your app activity logs.

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Tin | Microsoft Community Moderator
