Outlook for MAC is not syncing sent folder for IMAP account

Hello,

Has anyone seen an issue where the outlook app on MacBook pro is not syncing sent messages in the local sent folder with the sent folder on the email server? This issue is for a domain and email hosted through a 3rd party hosting provider. The outlook app uses IMAP settings to connect to the email account.

The emails, however, are being sent to the destination, and it is just that a copy stored in the sent folder of the outlook app is not syncing with that of the email server through IMAP.

I would appreciate any ideas on how to fix this. Many thanks for considering my request.

    I didn't write down the detailed steps to doing this, but used this post to lead me down the right path to importing the messages in bulk. If memory serves...

    • I dragged/dropped Outlook sent items into individual sub-folders that I organized by time period. (FYI: There's a limit on how many items Outlook allows you to drag/drop. Given the fact I had several years of sent items that I was doing this for, I needed a Finder folder structure that would me stay organized and not miss anything.)
    • Once all the messages were in their individual sub-folders, I added the ".mbox" extension to the sub-folder name. Example, the folder "iCloud Sent Items for Apr 2020-Sep 2020" became "iCloud Sent Items for Apr 2020-Sep 2020.mbox".
    • In mail.app, I used the Import -> Files in mbox format" feature to import emails by Finder sub-folder.
    • Then I *think* those messages got imported into an "Import" folder in mail.app, which I then moved to "Sent" folder.

    Hi Erik, could you elaborate? Did you do anything specific? Did it just start uploading emails to the server or were you able to export the emails?

    Hi! What I did before is sending an email via outlook for Mac and that did not appear in the sent mail folder in apple mail in my iPhone.

    I did that several times during last months and since today it does appear in that folder in apple mail (on my phone as well).

    Hopefully you know what I mean? Not a native English speaking person :-)
