Cannot manually sort folders with new Outlook

Hi All

I'm loving the new Outlook, however I'm having real difficulty manually sorting my email folders.

Clicking & dragging the folder, only allows me to drop the folder INTO another folder, but doesn't allow me to drop it in between other folders (meaning I cannot re-arrange / sort the folders manually).

Right clicking the folder and clicking "Move", again only allows me to move the folder INTO another folder. There is no "move up or down" option unfortunately.

It is currently sorting my folders in alphabetical order, but I wish to change this. I have been through all the settings and cannot find anywhere I can manually sort my email folders.

Can anyone assist?

    The change they implemented was the DELETION of a core feature in a mission critical product that we are being herded into using. Stop acting like there is a lick of benevolence in them planning to restore that feature at some indeterminate date. I cannot even fathom the level of cognitive dissonance that it takes to expect a billion users to be grateful for Microsoft's multi-year quest to add (at our request? as if we came up with something new?) the ability to organize folders. Imagine if the next Windows update removed the ability to use a mouse and forced you to talk to an AI or use a touchscreen, and then they put "mouse!" on a five-year restoration plan. I can just imagine your shilling about how they're listening to us and giving us the features we want.

    I don't have the option of 'sort folders' in the new outlook, and the roll out with the update seems to be not available to me here in Australia.

    This string was started in July of 2023.

    It is now February of 2025.

    Official Microsoft support webpage - Change the order of folders in the Folder Pane in Outlook - list steps that are still not available in "New Outlook".

    Thirty pages of replies requesting this to be resolved, yet no apparent resolution to date.

    What's the holdup?

    What a disaster that this menial feature is not in the new outlook. Costs real time having to look below an expanded archive folder to find the current things I care about.

    Is this feature still not added? I will not switch to new Outlook before this is possible, I need to be able to sort the folders based need...
