Cannot manually sort folders with new Outlook

Hi All

I'm loving the new Outlook, however I'm having real difficulty manually sorting my email folders.

Clicking & dragging the folder, only allows me to drop the folder INTO another folder, but doesn't allow me to drop it in between other folders (meaning I cannot re-arrange / sort the folders manually).

Right clicking the folder and clicking "Move", again only allows me to move the folder INTO another folder. There is no "move up or down" option unfortunately.

It is currently sorting my folders in alphabetical order, but I wish to change this. I have been through all the settings and cannot find anywhere I can manually sort my email folders.

Can anyone assist?

Thank you

Thomas

    +1

This is such a basic operation that is paramount in ones' email organization and workflow. That fact this was not considered when creating a "New Outlook" is somewhat concerning and one of the main reasons I will not be adopting it.

Hopefully they can get this solved but since the post is from 2023 and we're now in 2025, I am unhopeful.

I was reluctant to update to the new outlook but now since I can no longer use the classic application, I'm forced to use New Outlook.

This needs to be implemented now.

Please get this feature added back in! Not being able to organize folders in a particular order is very frustrating. Not sure why that feature would have ever been on the chopping block.

This is no helping, because if you add a folder to the favorite, they dont show the sub folders within them.

How can you just remove the function of organizing folders freely? This make me have to stop using outlook.

And now we can add one more problem to resolve 🤣

From now on, you cannot open attachments in the desktop applications.

Microsoft, it is time to resolve problems with your software or remove it, at least temporarily, from Windows and Store.
