Cannot manually sort folders with new Outlook

Hi All

I'm loving the new Outlook, however I'm having real difficulty manually sorting my email folders.

Clicking & dragging the folder, only allows me to drop the folder INTO another folder, but doesn't allow me to drop it in between other folders (meaning I cannot re-arrange / sort the folders manually).

Right clicking the folder and clicking "Move", again only allows me to move the folder INTO another folder. There is no "move up or down" option unfortunately.

It is currently sorting my folders in alphabetical order, but I wish to change this. I have been through all the settings and cannot find anywhere I can manually sort my email folders.

Can anyone assist?

Thank you

Thomas

Did a bit of research on it this morning and per the M365 Roadmap, it seems to now be scheduled for October 2024.

Mind you, another post created on March 2024 had a response from Inema (same rep who responded here) indicating it was added on the roadmap and was scheduled for May 2024, which evidently did not take place.

So hoping October 2024 is reliable, as it is not a difficult fix by any means and should not have taken over 15 months to implement, coming from someone who has actually done programming.

And the can will be kicked down further down the road. I would be holding my breath as to it being fixed in October as it was previously scheduled for August. This was raised July 3rd 2023! Perhaps their fix is to ignore us until we get tired of asking for it to be fixed.

Please let it be October, I have so many folders that need to be organized manually. I hate them being scattered and subfolders and favorites don't fix the problem.

If you're desperate to make it work for the time being, I found that modifying the name of the folder to include a number at the beginning of the name seems to sort it in numerical order. If it doesn't work initially, I found that moving the folder you just renamed into another folder and then moving it back to the main area "resets" it and allows it to sort by the number you just added.

Microsoft, please fix this! I'm excited to work with the new outlook, but I need to be able to control my folders.

This is crazy that they still have not added the feature. That's my biggest problem with the new outlook. Too many features are lost by switching to the new application and doesnt seem worth it at this point...
