Hi All
I'm loving the new Outlook, however I'm having real difficulty manually sorting my email folders.
Clicking & dragging the folder, only allows me to drop the folder INTO another folder, but doesn't allow me to drop it in between other folders (meaning I cannot re-arrange / sort the folders manually).
Right clicking the folder and clicking "Move", again only allows me to move the folder INTO another folder. There is no "move up or down" option unfortunately.
It is currently sorting my folders in alphabetical order, but I wish to change this. I have been through all the settings and cannot find anywhere I can manually sort my email folders.
Can anyone assist?
Thank you
Thomas

The thing is, that it is not supposed to change it in alphabetic order. The users expect the functionality like in the "old" outlook: Manual sorting and if necessary alphabetic sorting over the context menu.
Of course. It's a band-aid to a problem. I am simply providing a solution that worked for me. There's obviously an inability to sort folders on the new Outlook and all I am saying is that I accessed the web version and noticed my folders were suddenly sorted vs my unsorted desktop version. I restarted the desktop version and voila...folders were sorted.
Again, for anyone looking for a possible temporary solution to sort folders on the new Outlook regardless of how it works, log into your M365 account via web and access the Outlook web version to see if your folders automatically sort. Then restart the desktop version. Let us all know if it worked for you. I hope it helps those who prefer to be on the new Outlook as we patiently wait for Microsoft to fix.
but again, this just simply isn't what we're talking about. It is quite a hinderance to not be able to manually sort my folders managing folders that coincide with a timeline. If i tried to number them, i'd constantly be re-numbering all.

Not even part of it? Because I see reports on this thread of others stating they can't even get folders to sort in alphabetical order. At least with OP, his emails were sorted in alphabetical order. I get it...it's a shame we can't manually sort but imagine having NO sort?!
So I'm sorry my solution isn't aimed at you, but it will work for the others who, at the very least, need their folders sorted alphabetically...
I have my folders the same way this is so important!
