Cannot manually sort folders with new Outlook

Hi All

I'm loving the new Outlook, however I'm having real difficulty manually sorting my email folders.

Clicking & dragging the folder, only allows me to drop the folder INTO another folder, but doesn't allow me to drop it in between other folders (meaning I cannot re-arrange / sort the folders manually).

Right clicking the folder and clicking "Move", again only allows me to move the folder INTO another folder. There is no "move up or down" option unfortunately.

It is currently sorting my folders in alphabetical order, but I wish to change this. I have been through all the settings and cannot find anywhere I can manually sort my email folders.

Can anyone assist?

Thank you

Thomas

Boosting as this is critical functionality. New versions of applications shouldn't decrease in functionality.

It is June 2024 is there an update to this custom sorting of folders like in the old outlook? Thats the only thing I dont like about the new outlook. We have certain ways by which we prioritize that folder order and cannot simply adhere to what a corporation believes "it should be sorted" as this is a basic usability of any platform and it reflects bad on Microsoft by trying to impose their will on us the users - while this sort is an essential function of our storing of emails.

This needs to be prioritized much higher, looks like this has been an issue for your users for a year and seems like it would be a relatively small change to allow manual sorting. I use this feature all day, every day in classic outlook and will be switching back until this and a couple other things are fixed. Is there a certain amount of complaints that are needed to escalate this in priority?

Another confirmation of needing to rearrange folder order. At this time, I cannot even sort the parent folder alphabetically. an added folder just goes where it goes. Going to toggle back to old outlook, simply because of the need for this feature.

    I have a workaround.

    1. Created a temporary folder named Temp
    2. Moved all folders into the Temp folder
    3. One at a time, I moved folders from Temp to Inbox based on how I wanted them to appear

    * For example, if I wanted a folder to appear last, I would move it first

    1. Deleted Temp folder

NOTE: Until they resolve the issue, this is the workaround I have found that works

Wonderful! it works!!! Thank you for this.
