Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
It has been 6 months of waiting when will this be addressed. Alpha sort should be an option you can turn on and off.

Hi All
I'm loving the new Outlook, however I'm having real difficulty manually sorting my email folders.
Clicking & dragging the folder, only allows me to drop the folder INTO another folder, but doesn't allow me to drop it in between other folders (meaning I cannot re-arrange / sort the folders manually).
Right clicking the folder and clicking "Move", again only allows me to move the folder INTO another folder. There is no "move up or down" option unfortunately.
It is currently sorting my folders in alphabetical order, but I wish to change this. I have been through all the settings and cannot find anywhere I can manually sort my email folders.
Can anyone assist?
Thank you
Thomas

Hey Start of the new year can we get an update on this functionality?
I have switched back to the old interface due to this issue. This seems like a very, very basic user interface feature used daily as an organizational tool for many, many users.
I'm ready to switch to the new interface as soon as this is addressed, but absolutely NOT before.
Hi again all
So 6 months later since I originally raised this, and this still hasn't been resolved or even confirmed that it's being looked into.
This is really discouraging & disappointing. The ability to manually sort our email folders, is really basic functionality and shouldn't take 6+ months to develop.
Could someone from Microsoft please provide us, the users, with a substantial update & idea of timeframes we could expect to see this basic functionality re-introduced?
As someone who has nearly 100 folders, typing "numbers" or adding as "favourites" are not practical or workable, work-arounds.
Please give us a meaningful update & set some expectations on timeframes. If there are no plans to re-introduce this functionality, please let us at least know, and I will sadly look for an alternative email client.
Thanks
Thomas
The lack of folder reordering is enough not to use New Outlook. This is basic functionality. I will not be able to move forward until this very simple feature is restored.
