New Outlook - Where is the option for the "Search Folders" where we can save searches ?

This doesn't allow you to create Search folders though.

I'm on Day 2 of "new" outlook and hate it.

It's been months now and nothing really has changed in "New" Outlook. I'm repeating myself here, but something is dreadfully wrong when the smartphone app has features like unified inbox/sent folders and a search function that automatically searches all folders over multiple accounts, yet New Outlook can't manage these things, while not being as resource-constrained as a smartphone app might be.

And the mighty Microsoft can't get a groupware app together that's as easy or as fun to use as Slack, nor a note-taking app that's as fully functional as Evernote (Evernote, since its not-too-long-ago acquisition, has improved dramatically, with regular updates and fixes).

Makes ya wonder.

OK, I am sorry, I thought you meant you COULD create search folders using that interface but I think that's not what you meant now.

Yes, the way they have removed all the really useful stuff is maddening.

How hard is it to let us save an arbitrary search query? I am not asking his rhetorically. I seriously want someone from Microsoft to answer that question.

Anyway, I was using "eM client" because the search was so good but had to switch back to Outlook as it was getting less and less compatible with Office 365 and I was "losing" email (still there in Outlook). I don't blame "eM client" - it's probably almost impossible to keep up with Microsoft on this stuff.

Ha, I use Teams for 85% of my work and slack for about 15%. Slack has Threads! Mind blowing concept. :)

I am sure we will get saved search folders eventually but feel like it's pretty crazy we don't have them yet. In the Microsoft world, email is the basic workflow interface for a lot of people in mgmt positions or doing customer service or "knowledge work". The lack of search folders just creates so much more friction.

Old way: I have a set of requests I need to triage and I batch them up so I'll make a search folder for anything in my inbox with these senders and this keyword in the subject.

New way: make a rule (maybe) that can take these emails into a category on the way in, add that category to favorites, click on category, click on search bar to filter to Inbox only (every time).

It introduces another step, certainly, and requires I categorize email when before the email would not have this category. It also requires I have the foresight to categorize stuff I might want to organize later (now, you need to go in and do a search then highlight all and categorize, and make a new rule that does the same for new email, etc).

The workaround that I've used is to set up a rule filter that apply a label to email that matches the search criteria. This way you can search by the label and find everything matching the criteria.
