New Outlook - Where is the option for the "Search Folders" where we can save searches ?

So much apparent foot-dragging or just lack of caring.

I know I'm repeating myself with some stuff from previous posts but...

Slack eats Teams for lunch, at least for smaller organizations. Feature-rich classic Outlook, despite it's being packed with too many settings and a few quirks, still beats New Outlook in many ways, including unified search (across mailboxes). Even the Outlook smartphone app (IOS AND Android) has had that feature by default (you don't even need to turn it on, it's just there) for a long time now.

And the Outlook smartphone app has unified folders, which both desktop apps lack (you can kinda fake this with classic Outlook, but it's not built-in).

Evernote eats OneNote for lunch.

And Microsoft keeps threatening to sunset classic Outlook, to the chagrin of many.

Makes ya wonder.

Custom search folders is critical to my personal organization process, been waiting a while for this feature can't use the new outlook until it's resolved. Current options still too limited.

And there's no good reason to HAVE to work around it.

Work-arounds are, by definition, sub-par solutions. You've clearly explained the use case.... now it's just a matter of someone at MSFT scoping the problem and deciding if it gets assigned any resources. In the meantime, I'm with you. I don't use the "new outlook" for exactly the same reason.

I do this all the time, the problem is you cannot restrict this to items in your inbox.

Example: I have a rule that adds an "ASAP" tag to emails from a given set of people. I then triage these and act on them (e.g. make a ticket, reply directly, etc). Once it is addressed, I archive it.

• View by tag does not restrict to a folder (which makes sense)
• Archiving does not remove the tag (which makes sense)
• So whenever I want to see say "unread ASAP in my Inbox" I need to:
  • Click on the tag folder to see all "ASAP"
  • Go to the search bar to restrict to "Inbox"
  • Then click on the "Undread" filter to see unread in my inbox (half the time this drops the "Inbox" filter, which is annoying)

What this should be is "make a saved search for 'ASAP in my inbox that are undread'".

A minor issue but I have a number of workflows based around saved search functionality (available in a lot of email clients) which requires multiple steps.

I CAN work around it, I would prefer to not have to.

Edit: I see the typos but am leaving them as comic relief.

The workaround that I've used is to set up a rule filter that apply a label to email that matches the search criteria. This way you can search by the label and find everything matching the criteria.
