After update to 16.73 Outlook for Mac, Yahoo mail keeps re-syncing and reloading. Changes made in Outlook AND Yahoo are not syncing.

Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?

My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.

AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.

I am doing the same, using Apple mail to delete messages, but move messages is working, only because I’m moving them to a folder outside of my AOL email. It’s still a huge inconvenience, and I paid for my Outlook, so I am very disappointed that Microsoft is apparently choosing to not address this issue simply because they made the program free. I realize that Yahoo/AOL most likely created the problem by changing something on their side, but I still think Microsoft can address it.

I've been limping along with the "new" Outlook for several weeks now. It's clearly an inferior product, perhaps because, as I understand it, it's now being offered for free. The calendar has many fewer features than the original. You can't edit saved messages. It doesn't download every email in each folder; instead, it gives the annoying "Load more conversations" option. Inbox messages often download very slowly, or not at all, when opened; I often just open them in Yahoo to save the time I spend waiting for Outlook to download the full message.

The one advantage - the only one from my observation - is that the syncing with my Yahoo account is fixed and folder contents no longer magically disappear and reappear and disappear and reappear and disappear and reappear.

Sorry to paint with such a broad brush, but sadly, this is the world we're now living in. Everything, big and small, is inferior. It's simultaneously embarrassing, infuriating, and frankly, frightening. It's a disadvantage to be my age with the ability to "remember when" things were very different in the late, great U.S.A.

I was very hesitant to switch to the new Outlook but the Yahoo issue spurred me to and I haven't found any issues so far, or noticed fewer features, and I use a lot of features. I would suggest that you turn off Conversation mode for each email account by unchecking Show as Conversations under the View menu - by doing so all messages download.

I actually switched the Show as Conversations view off sometime last week because I was losing my mind trying to find the most recent email in a "conversation." For me at least, that action had no impact on the downloading situation for most folders. I still have several folders with just a fraction of the emails that belong in them, and the "Load more conversations" nonsense if I scroll down far enough. I just re-tested the downloading (opening) of emails in my inbox, and that appears to be working now, so I'll keep an eye on it.

The calendar doesn't even remotely resemble my calendar in legacy Outlook and in fact, I've had to return to the old version more than once to grab repeating dates (birthdays, etc.) that didn't transfer, and add them back in manually. It's a concern, because I don't know everything that didn't transfer over from the legacy calendar to the new one. I also have several calendars now that I don't believe was the case with the old Outlook, which is taking some getting used to. There are 4 under my exchange account, and 3 under my Yahoo account. I probably did that to myself after upgrading my Macbooks over the years, but now I'm constantly clicking from one calendar to the next trying to find the one I've been updating. Another thing I noticed is the color coding went away. There's a color scheme of some sort, but it's not user driven. And the repeating events are unnecessarily glitchy to set up, imo.

I get the sense that some people used the hell out of all or most of legacy Outlook's features, whereas others (like me) never reached that level, and in my case, I think it's a stumbling block to using the new version efficiently. That said, I also think MS could've done a much better job. I don't see any advantage to the new version over the old one, only drawbacks, and that shouldn't be the case for any of us, regardless of how we used the legacy version.

Microsoft threw us a bone with this crippled piece of **** (New Outlook) for the ghosting problem. Then they hoped we would go away. For M$ it was job done. I surely hope they don’t do any mission critical work for our defense department.

Anyway, with the New Outlook we already know rules won’t work with Yahoo accounts nor can you drag, drop, or move emails from a Yahoo account to any other account.  Move only works (sometimes) within the Exchange account. No Export option either.

Now add to this: the Unsubscribe feature is non-functional and while selecting Report as Junk moves an email to the Junk folder it has no effect of stopping future emails, from the same source, from appearing in my inbox.

For shame Microshaft for doing this to you supposedly valuable customers.

David, Similar issues as you and the others have said. I ran up update for my system. Then I experienced the balloon reply of you're all done for the day after it deletes all of my inbox. I can't find any of the emails as they are not in the deleted or archived folders. I can't even get a new app password as that seems disabled as well, or simply not working. I had to set up service call with Outlook for Mac team and after hours and days of back and forth they admitted they have a known issue and get this: NO KNOWN RESOLUTION DATE, NOR CONFIRMATION THAT THEY ARE EVEN WORKING ON ONE! IS that the worst customer service you have ever heard? I think it is. FYI in customer service circles if you are hearing a service complaint of some sort it usually reflect upwards of 38 other users with the same issue, some that may have opted to not call or simply quit the service. So, that's at a minimum 5,586 others with same issue. Are you listening Microsoft for MAC? SO now I have to use Yahoo emails online! Now it doesn't sync with my Outlook calendar.
