After update to 16.73 Outlook for Mac, Yahoo mail keeps re-syncing and reloading. Changes made in Outlook AND Yahoo are not syncing.

Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?

My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.

AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.

I have installed a beta version 19.75 (23062503) which does NOT fix the problem either. MS have this problem listed in support with a workabout that is to use New Outlook. But New outlook also does not work for me. I can get by with some of the New Outlook deficiencies except that the Move search function does not work. I do a lot of moving emails from the inbox and sent folders to multiple folders in my workflow - something I really like in legacy outlook as compared to Apple Apple mail which is quite cumbersome. So currently I am using Yahoo mail in the Safari browser which at least has a similar move function to legacy Outlook. Really hope they get this fixed. I have emails from MS Support in May that acknowledge the problem and say the problem will be fixed with an update. But has not been done in more than a month with updates progressing to 19.75 already. I have sent numerous followup emails to MS Support but have yet to get a response. Super frustrating.

Strange. I also depend on moving files for workflow, but the Move function does indeed work for me in New Outlook. Both with "move" and/or drag and drop into other folders.

I'm using Yahoo with IMAP (not Microsoft Sync)

I still miss my Rules though.

Yes I also use Yahoo with IMAP. I just updated Outlook to Version 16.76 (23062703). Same problem. I deleted my Yahoo account and reinstalled it with fingers crossed. But no, same old problem. I have changed to New Outlook again and the move files is working again. That does seem to come and go. Sometimes it works and sometimes not. It could be that all folders have not been synced. Which seems to point to some kind of sync problem similar to legacy but manifesting differently i.e. sync is ok on the built in folders - Inbox, Sent etc but not in user created folder. Who knows? Apparently not even MS seeing that they have made at least 3 version updates now and still not resolved the issue. Grrr....

NOTE TO ALL CURRENTLY USING LEGACY: I have been using Mac Mail for my Yahoo address. . . Opened Outlook today to find this msg in a highlighted ribbon at the top of home page:

THE NEW OUTLOOK FOR MAC IS HERE ! THE NEW VERSON WILL LAUNCH THE NEXT TIME OUTLOOK RESTARTS. And then an option to TRY NOW.

There is no way I can see to prevent this. Last time it occurred without my permission, all folders were emptied and a Microsoft tech told me to revert back to Legacy. . . . REALLY?

    It appears nothing has changed.

This should block the new outlook, hopefully even for updates - close Outlook, open Terminal and paste then run this line:

defaults write com.microsoft.Outlook EnableNewOutlook -Integer 1

    Possible values
    0 = Switch hidden
1 = Switch displayed, default off
2 = Switch displayed, default on (default)
3 = New Outlook enabled with switch hidden

Set preferences for Outlook for Mac - Deploy Office | Microsoft Learn
