After update to 16.73 Outlook for Mac, Yahoo mail keeps re-syncing and reloading. Changes made in Outlook AND Yahoo are not syncing.

Okay, RetiredGeek ... I'm gonna hold off trying to move my Exchange email to Apple Mail (I've encountered some issues) and will wait to see if you report back with continued success with "new" Outlook.

Hi Diane ... I actually don't need the On My Computer feature - I seem to be one of the few who never used it. My concern continues to be the constant emptying of random folders in Outlook during syncs with my Yahoo account. I'm a little gun shy at the moment, so I'm sitting tight to see if others are able to stabilize their situations with "new" Outlook. If it looks like the situation has been resolved via new Outlook, I'll probably make the switch to it rather than start over at my advanced age with Apple Mail.

Update time: been using the New Outlook now over a day and have had absolutely no glitches, belches from Yahoo or anything else. Everything works quite smoothly and the only negative I have found is moving folders, via drag & drop, is crippled. Otherwise, there are many new likeable/improved features such as contacts, message composing, etc.

The Settings are more robust and it takes a little time to learn all the changed screen navigation points so there is a slight learning curve.  For me, clearly the New Outlook is much better than the Legacy version and at this point I have no intention of going back.  Having said that I won’t unravel the folder structure I created to work around the Outlook/Yahoo beast just yet to be on the safe side.

Finally, I still don’t trust M$ because this was preventable and there was almost zero support and that was as dismal at it comes (typical for M$).  I’m still convinced M$ rocked everyone’s boat to push us overboard into the New Outlook.

I believe I'll give the "new" Outlook a try later today. I REALLY don't like the way I tense up now every time I open old Outlook and go from offline to online, lol. Not healthy!

So after reading all the posts that New Outlook was supposed to work, I bit the bullet on Saturday and switched over. I added my AOL account and was presented with the option to either use Microsoft Cloud sync or stick with IMAP. I don't think Microsoft needs to store all my data since it's already being hosted on AOL's servers and didn't need to be in 2 places, so I opted to use the IMAP option instead. It took a good part of Saturday to sync up all my subfolders in my AOL inbox and in many cases I had to actually click the individual folder and tell it to sync and wait for them to populate. This went on for most of Sunday too. (I have a lot of subfolders and some contain several years' worth of messages.) So I thought everything was working fine. Then late on Sunday evening I quit Outlook and when I reopened it later, many of the folders I had populated were empty again and I had to to sit and wait for the data to sync. Is this the New Outlook's behavior if I don't allow it to sync to Microsoft Cloud? I would think that once a folder syncs it should stay synched, but this is not my experience at this time. Has anyone else who has switched to New Outlook, tried closing the app and reopening to see if the syncing holds, or am I missing something?

LeePhillips1: I'll share my experience with the switchover from legacy to new Outlook, but I doubt it will be of much value to you. My primary email account is sbcglobal.net (Yahoo), not AOL. When I clicked the old to new Outlook switch, I didn't (to my recollection) get the Microsoft Cloud sync option (which is fine, because I wouldn't have chosen it).

After a few chores like choosing colors, etc., my inbox filled up. I noted that my other folders would sync (sometimes slowly) as I clicked on them, but a new feature, I guess, is the "Load more conversations" option, which appears either by itself in a folder, or after a few emails have downloaded into a folder. I guess it's individual preference whether one wants to pull all their emails into Outlook, or leave some or most of them sitting on their Yahoo/AOL/etc. account and download as needed.

Since I was primarily concerned with the magically emptying folders I'd been dealing with, along with the duplications in almost every folder, I chose not to download every last email into every Outlook folder - at least not yesterday. I may do that at some point (I have a couple of HUGE folders), but I'm now pretty confident that once I download emails into an Outlook folder, they stay there, thank God!

I also have a much less active Microsoft Exchange account I use, and again, if I recall correctly, it downloaded automatically, because I don't remember adding it to Outlook, so it must've populated itself when I clicked the "new" switch.

I was also able to populate the calendar quite easily. So far, I haven't seen any glitches or even a bump in the road. The biggest challenge now is getting used to the look of the new Outlook, and locating all the buttons and whatnot. After seeing your post this morning, I opened Outlook (I've been in and out of it a few times since I made the switch, with no detectable issues) and checked some folders, and all appears well, just as I left it yesterday.

Sorry this isn't more helpful for your situation. Maybe someone else with an AOL account will weigh in here, and/or someone can explain what might've happened re: Microsoft Cloud vs. IMAP.
