Using older versions of Outlook for Mac in business environments

Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?
My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.
AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.

Here is Mr. Nadella's email address > satyan@microsoft.com
I assume my email was handled by his executive staff.
A few days ago, I emailed Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella and briefly summarized the problems we have all encountered here with both the Legacy and New Outlook for the MAC over the last 9 months. I included a link to this community forum and asked that someone review/address the problems.
Today a Microsoft Support Escalation Engineer - level 3 called. I’ll briefly summarize our discussion as follows.
Legacy Outlook for the MAC
I explained the ghosting folders issues that started last May with Yahoo, AOL, AT&T, etc. accounts and that many fixes and ideas were attempted by users with no solution yet. I often referred him to our forum for details. While there was no direct response from Microsoft, we did learn indirectly the fix for folder ghosting was to use the free New Outlook for the MAC. Some of us tried that (including me) but not everyone is/was willing to do so because the New Outlook is crippled.
New Outlook for the MAC
While I could have covered several issues here, I focused on the 3 most critical (IMHO);
- Unable to move or copy folders or emails between accounts i.e. my Outlook (Exchange) and Yahoo account.
- Rules not supported in Yahoo account and sometime don’t work in Exchange account.
- No Export option (it’s grayed out)
While the technician seemed to record all of the above, he only offered that the New Outlook was still work in progress. He believes in time they will be corrected. I reminded him it’s been 9 months now.
Nevertheless, my impression was this is the first time this engineer has ever heard any of this. He said he will review the issues I presented today and those documented in our Community forum with the engineering team. He did not ask for what version of Outlook I was running. He said he would get back to me next week.
I concluded in 9 months no one from Microsoft ever responded or provide direction to our frustrations leaving many, many customers to their own devices, losing productivity, and jumping through frustrating hoops. This was unacceptable.
So, we will see. I’m not holding my breath.
@RetiredGeek,
Thanks for the initiative and glad that you were able to speak with a technician. (I, and others have also done so...therefore not holding out much hope!).
In case you have an opportunity to connect with others at Microsoft, it's not just legacy Outlook that has problems synching with Yahoo. When the problem first occurred in May for me, the tech I contacted suggested I try New Outlook. Unfortunately that hasn't solved the synching issue, at least for me.
So for now, I use Apple Mail to manage Yahoo and Legacy Outlook for other accounts. I may try switching default ports and if that doesn't work, try the Thunderbird program and simply give up on Outlook.
Thanks for the iniative. But as Retired Geek said, I for one, have also been in touch with support at least 3 times with the same outcome. Chatting, even on the phone with either 2nd or 3rd level support. New Outlook is their official "work around" that you can find published somewhere in Support. It seems they have no intension of fixing Legacy Outlook for Mac considering the time lapse since the problem manifested. And yes, New Outlook is useless to me to. I now use Thunderbird.
I am impressed to at least see a response following an email addressed to Satya Nadella. If you could share that email address maybe more of us can email him so that he (or his assistant) gets an idea about how many people are dissatisfied.

For those who are willing to move to new Outlook, I would like to mention that at some time, my new Outlook crashed and I was not able to re open it anymore. I had to create a new profile to be able to re open it but I lost all my personal created folders with all the emails that I moved into those.
It's incredible that Microsoft has greyed out the 'Export' function since 9 months now and that we are not able to take a backup of Outlook.
