After update to 16.73 Outlook for Mac, Yahoo mail keeps re-syncing and reloading. Changes made in Outlook AND Yahoo are not syncing.

Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?

My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.

AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.

For what it's worth, I've never used the "new" Outlook - never even clicked over to take a look - so I'm thinking the issue isn't with the old vs. new Outlook. All my problems began with the Outlook for Mac 16.73 update last week.

I had the same issue 5/23/23.  I tried the "new" version of outlook for iOS and it connected to Yahoo Mail fine, but the sync would aways load all messages and then refresh and remove messages in the Outlook client.  It was never stable.  I then went back to the old "look" of Outlook and could not connect.  I tried generating an app password but it would not work on the web site or a different computer.  I did go into the iPhone app for Yahoo Mail and into my account settings and generated an app password just fine.  So I believe you must just the old outlook and use the iPhone app to generate an app password.  Hope this helps.

From my previous post till now I have made a few changes. First I reverted back to the Old Version of Outlook. Since I was planning on ending two bellsouth (Yahoo) emails anyway, I have made some headway. First I removed all but the basic folders in my bellsouth emails. It still blanks out and reloads but and least I am only dealing with the inbox. As soon as I receive an email and before it blanks out I move the emails to My Computer folders to store which is what I have been doing. Once all my accounts that use my bellsouth emails for communications have been configured for my gmail account I'll delete my bellsouth (Yahoo) accounts. My observation is there is something between Outlook and Yahoo communication for sure, both software and possible hardware. It's hard to place blame but a definite issues that they both need to collaborate on instead of blaming each other. There is still the issue with the new version of Outlook and not being able to create folders or move emails between Outlook and My Computer, suspect this is an Outlook problem. My move is more that the original Bellsouth to AT&T then to Yahoo accounts have made it extremely difficult for access and management both via web and Outlook. Had my bellsouth.net account for more than 20 years. Hope Outlook and Yahoo figure it out. I've got my plan for now. Thanks everyone for the contributions, just hope it gets the right attention soon.

I'm a designer with some unusual stuff installed. I have an app called Timing that tracks all my time spent on jobs all autonomously. I have Fiery server software installed which checks through the internet for updates all the time. Fiery has several launch/log in items. Adobe Creative Cloud also has its hooks in the internet all the time. So does Evernote for syncing between devices. Astute Manager (3rd party add on for Adobe) maintains a license check all the time. Flickr also maintains an uploader. Not sure if any of these contributes... but I wonder if anyone else here with the problem is using any of these.
