After update to 16.73 Outlook for Mac, Yahoo mail keeps re-syncing and reloading. Changes made in Outlook AND Yahoo are not syncing.

Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?

My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.

AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.

    Diane (slipstick.com) is the only public tech entity to reach out so far to those of us hurting – through no fault of our own. At this point I don’t care whose fault it is. It has been almost a month now jumping through hoops to prevent losing our emails and our minds.

    Where is the rest of the tech industry?  This is a major issue that affect many, many people. The silence has been deafening from mainstream tech organizations like Apple, Microsoft, Yahoo, CNET, ZDNET, AskWoody, etc., etc., etc. It might help if the audience was wider.  Nevertheless, this requires, at the very least, collaboration of the major players – specifically M$, Apple, & Yahoo -  whether it is their problem or not.

    This old fossil has been involved in computers since 1965 (think Univac II) and I thought I saw or experienced it all until this debacle.  End of Rant,  Thanks

    With no disrespect meant to either you or Diane, how has she been helpful on THIS forum? Weeks later, I'm still sitting with my Outlook for Mac in "Work Offline" mode, except for those moments throughout the day when I hold my breath and put it online to sync my sbcglobal.net (Yahoo) inbox with my Outlook inbox, so that I can then handle each and every email at least TWICE ... once in Outlook, then in Yahoo.

    As I have mentioned previously, am in the same boat as everyone else. Decades of old emails in folders... For me, this is the final wake up call that these old email addresses (sbcglobal.net in my case) will not be a priority for any provider (Yahoo/ATT Currently/Microsoft). I am accessing my sbcglobal email directly through Yahoo, completely outside of Outlook and will use the next several months to migrate totally away from this platform. Of course, hoping they fix the problem, but I have little hope.

    It's not due to an Outlook update if it's also broken on older builds.

    As loath as I am to admit this, yes, having switched back to an older version that I knew worked, 16.72.3, but still encountering the issues, it does seem like the issue is more on AOL or Yahoo's end -- but with all due respect, Diane, Microsoft's response time should be faster and more corrective than it has been, especially simply to say "switch to New Outlook." I won't speak for everyone here, but I know that in my case, besides also having almost fifteen years of old e-mails saved in various folders, I am not so computer-savvy as to feel comfortable with a lot of switching and converting or whatever is needed...that's why I still use my twenty-five-year-old AOL address and Legacy Outlook to begin with! Thanks, however, for you and all the posters here for at least still checking in and offering advice or opinions as needed. I'm sure SOMEONE will come up with something soon, it's just that, for now, this is the most vexing issue I have ever had with both my Mac and Office, and it's really, really not fun.
