After update to 16.73 Outlook for Mac, Yahoo mail keeps re-syncing and reloading. Changes made in Outlook AND Yahoo are not syncing.

Prior to this update, I had no issue with Outlook for Mac and Yahoo. I just updated to 16.73 (23051401). After updating, I had many problems with the Yahoo mail from within Outlook. It worked for the first 15 minutes, then got login errors and IMAP errors. I deleted the Yahoo account from Outlook and then quit. I then went back to Yahoo and got a new app password. I restarted Outlook and added the new app password obtained from Yahoo. It worked for the first 15 minutes then started to suddenly empty out all emails in all folders. Then the emails would eventually re-sync and reload from Yahoo. This now happens constantly. I tried the same uninstall reinstall process again, and nothing changed. Now also changes I make within Yahoo via my browser are not reflected in Outlook and changes made to Yahoo mail within Outlook are not saved when the emails clear, res-sync and reload, and they are not reflected in Yahoo online either. It's stuck in a loop. New emails DO ARRIVE and get added to the loop. Also there is a constant attempt to recreate the basic Yahoo folders: Drafts, Archive, Junk, Bulk. I get error messages saying can't be installed because they already exist - which they do! Why is it trying to reinstall them as if it is a new connection with Yahoo?

My setup is the following using OUTLOOK for MAC - BUT NOT NEW OUTLOOK. New Outlook does not support all the folders I have created over the years for organization and am unwilling to lose. I have a 16 inch MBPro M1 Max chip. Running Monterey 12.6.5.

AS a side note, I have for the past year or more had problems where white-listing emails does not work. Outlook is putting emails of people I email with regularly into SPAM. I whitelisted many of them, but Outlook is ignoring the classification and still putting those emails into SPAM.

    Diane,

    My savior today. . . Thanks so much. I am not a tech person and can usually with time wade through the mire. . . But this has been an issue since April and yes I along with you have trampled through 20 frustrating pages.

    I am a long time MS/ Outlook user and I thought Office 365 for Mac was the solution. I switched to a Mac as I use their other device and thought making the switch would simply rather than complicate. I was wrong. Apple mail not as feature rich as Legacy, Pages lacking on so many levels and then the redundancy, and juggling contacts and calendars and now the Yahoo issue. My primary mail address is Yahoo with two additional gmail accounts.

    Maybe it is time to let go of the idea that I can use a third party to manage multiple email accounts and groups. Maybe time to let go of Office 365 entirely and purchase stand alone. Sighhhhhhhhh. Jana

    Microsoft’s solution to the ghosting and reappearing emails was to move us to their half-baked, work in progress New Outlook.

    We already know rules won’t work with Yahoo accounts nor can you drag, drop, or move emails from a Yahoo account.  They only work (sometimes) within the Exchange account.

     

    Discovered a new missing feature today in New Outlook. There is no Export option to export email folders to an .olm file or other external file. Microsoft says use Apples’ time machine for backup purposes. But what if I want to put my exported files on another machine? Maybe I want to import them into a different email client? Maybe M$ doesn’t like the later idea.  And I am supposed to use Time Machine for my family jewels? That’s like the fox telling the hens they will be safe in Apples’ hen house.

     

    I am so tired of everything Microsoft.  Anyone know how to export all your New Outlook for the Mac email folders including those in On My Computer??  Thanks.

    Probably the easiest way is to select the Outlook menu, uncheck New Outlook to revert to legacy Outlook and then export everything to a .olm file.

    Diane,

    I was able to dissuade NEW OUTLOOK from opening by not choosing TRY NOW until today. Opened Outlook to find NEW OUTLOOK INSTALLED. NO Gmail account iboxes, no calendar events, no contacts. . . . nothing.

    I am just a consumer Diane, I don't know what it means to open Terminal . . .

    If your Outlook has switched to New Outlook, simply click in the first menu item entitled Outlook (to the left of File) and uncheck New Outlook. Outlook will then ask you why you are reverting to legacy Outlook and you can answer or not but when you then hit Submit Outlook will close and reopen into legacy Outlook and everything will look and work just as it did before.

    My experience with legacy currently is that the emails disappear every 2 minutes which is when Outlooks attempts to sync. The two minutes is adjustable in settings. If the export function exists in legacy and I am not familiar with it, then revert from New Outlook to Legacy, wait for it to sync, compare it with Yahoo in a browser to ensure that all folders are synced and then set sync to a longer period or turn sync off. This should retain all the emails and folders in Outlook Legacy. Then export them in whatever way you wish from the legacy app. As mentioned I am not familiar with the export function but if you know it then you should be able to accomplish your task.

    I can access my calendar, contacts and my 2 email accounts, i.e., Epix.net (Yahoo) & Outllok.com, via just the Outlook app all my devices which include my iPhone, Win10 desktop and of course my Mac desktop.  That’s not the problem.

    Let me explain it another way. On a Windows machine all Outlook emails were stored in .PST files which were clearly visible in Windows file manager. They could be easily copied, if desired, to any other folder or device, internal or external.

    Not so on a Mac desktop with NEW Outlook. There are no .pst files or any other discernible Outlook files that I can identify in Finder. Moreover, there is no export option in the NEW outlook, however; in the Mac Legacy edition there was an export option. There is no way I would go back to legacy outlook at this point.

    So, how does one export their New Outlook for Apple accounts/folders, including On My Computer, to an external physical file that I can store on another system??
